Guest guest
Once , when Seeradwaj Janaka was plouging the land with a golden plough on a special occasion of worship to mother earth, he found an ornamental box with a female child, dazzling as an angel. Janaka accepted the child as his daughter gifted by God and named her Sita. Later when she grew young, Seeradwaj Janaka proposed to choose a husband for Sita through a test of strength, in which suitors wishing for Sita's hand in marriage would have to string the magnificent bow named Siva Dhanus , that belonged to Lord Siva. Lord Rama was brought to Janaka's Court on that occasion by Rishi Viswamitra. Rama passed the test of strength, by breaking the bow and married Sita. There was a noise like a clap of thunder and those who were watching saw the great Bow of Mahadeva break into two. Messengers were sent to Ayodhya on fleet horses and they hurried to the great city with the glad tidings that Rama had broken the great Bow of Mahadeva and that Sita, the daughter of Janaka, was to be his bride. This is a message to all parents of girl child to give their daughter's hand in marriage to a competent person with due testing. I request you to listen to 'Siva Dhanurbhangam' episode(Balakanda 67 Sarga) from " Sampoorna Valmiki Ramayana 24K Slokas " with Telugu meaning. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=balakanda+67+sarga+goli & aq=f
