Namaste,IMO,

Yama consists of five parts, viz., Ahimsa (non-injury), Satyam

(truthfulness), Asteya (non-stealing), Brahmacharya (celibacy), and

Aparigraha (non-covetousness).

These yamas are deeper than appear. Asteya for example involves not

only thievery, but misappropriation, overcharging, false advertising

and many other forms of asteya. Charging too much rent or gouging

for example, or one people taking another people's land and

colonising it.

One has to try and balance the ledger by making restitution wherever

possible, or writing treaties and giving compensation to displaced

natives etc etc.

All this is to purify the Buddhi or Vijananmayakosa, there would be

no point in me spouting spirituality and then sitting in somebody

else's house or land that wasn't mine, or continuing exploitive

business practises.

Spirituality involves the whole Ashtanga Yoga. In essence daily

mundane life in the world is part of spirituality to the unrealised,

there is no separation...........ONS...Tony.
