What is an Avatar?

Namaste All,

Having just talked about Jivanmuktas or realised souls, the question

of Avatars comes up. The word means cross down and indicates a birth

not karmically driven, a Karana Janma. Others call them Messiahs and

Bhodisattvas.

IMO I see not much difference between a Mukta and an Avatar initially.

A Mukta has realised Moksha and an Avatar has put off Moksha to come

back and help mankind. Just preserving the one thought/desire to help,

which causes rebirth.

This step means that prarabda karma would still operate with an Avatar

but only the vibrations attracted to the lifetime would manifest. Even

Avatars have to pay the taxes. There would be an almost purified

Vijnanamayakosa and still a residual ego.

It is likely that Avatars become Muktas as well, in the chosen

lifetime. As Buddha and Jesus and others probably did.

These are all concepts, within illusion, of course for we are all

Avatars really, just depends on the degree of purification.

There is an Indian text I remember reading once which talked about all

persons have the opportunity to become an Avatar of Visnu.

Some say 'God' has taken a form, well 'God' is all forms and has taken

them all.

In the end result of course this is just in the mind.

Just musing and speculating................ONS..Tony.
