Amma: " Christ sacrificed himself to teach others the greatness of

sacrifice and forgiveness. The mahatmas can remove their own

suffering in an instant if they wish. But what they desire is to set

an example for the whole world, even if it means their own

suffering. No one can do anything to the mahatmas. You can't even

approach them without their consent. No one can oppose them if they

resolve against it. They willingly undergo suffering to teach the

world how to face opposing forces and adverse circumstances. "
