Over 5000 years ago sages around the Indus River, in India, used meditation to systematically study the “mechanics” and dynamics of their thoughts. This study of thoughts is the Supreme Science.

From this study these sages Realized the obvious: thoughts cannot be controlled. Thoughts can no more be controlled than can physics' “wave-particles” be controlled.

The control of thoughts is an illusion that these sages called maya. This illusion is like the one atoms need to appear solid. It is also the same illusion that makes some compounds appear even more solid than their atoms.

In the same way molecules are just atoms, so too this maya is just a dream. And so -- the mind is what it dreams, thinks.

We might want to argue that bleeding-bodies and broken-bones do not thoughts make. But then that is exactly what the mind thinks in its sleep-dreams when/where they have to be thoughts.

Every duality, every disagreement, every conflict, hostility and war is based on this simple fact: each mind is what it thinks.

Five-thousand years later and the modern mind is too smart to Realize that every study is just a study of thoughts, the Supreme Science.

The modern mind has to be smart because it can use all its thoughts, and their studies, to create and then fuel all the dualities, disagreements, conflicts and wars it, the mind, needs to be what it thinks.

The chaos or futility that thoughts create as they need more and more thoughts, and studies, to feed all sorts of dualities, disagreements, conflicts and wars these Indus River sages called karma.
