Guest guest
The Observer called Self Forget about the Samadhi that you eternally are, and are fully Awake to each night in dreamless-sleep. Forget about the Reality you are and enjoy your show called maya. This maya we also call life, living. “Karma” and “why” and “I” and “they” are all like “reincarnation,” nothing but thoughts. Thoughts cannot be controlled. The illusion that we can control our thoughts is maya. Maya is just another word for illusion or dream and even hallucination. An illuminated-person is aware that thoughts cannot be controlled and this makes the illuminated-person into an Observer. This Observer, of thoughts, is aware that there is no doer and thus he, the Observer, has never done anything. His mind has had uncontrolled-thoughts, and his body has responded, but the illuminated-person is not the thoughts we call a mind nor its body. Thoughts are maya. The Observer of thoughts is the Self that enjoys all maya because for the Self there are no dualities, just thoughts. For the Self there are no dualities, like pain and pleasure, to dilute the JOY that is maya, entertainment, Lila. Identify with the thoughts and the mind is what it thinks, maya. Identify with the Observer and maya is the JOY of entertainment. This Joy is the same we get from reading a novel, listening to music, or watching a movie. This Joy is the Self itself. Today we have the perfect analogy we need to visualize or imagine maya. This analogy the likes of Shankara never had: movies. Maya is exactly like a movie in which the Self plays all the roles. The movie called maya has already been made; all the characters -- that the Self is playing on the movie-screen -- are just going through the motions. And only thoughts – the imaginary characters on the movie-screen – can think differently. gp
