Amma's serious of books are quite instructive to those who are not

complicated and are new on the path of Vedanta.'Awaken Children'. My

children found them interesting anyway. She does teach Advaita

Vedanta to her advanced students, the rest is mainly Bhakti and

behaviour-----karma yoga. You can go to her website and sign up for

the free emagazine, sometimes it has good stuff in it.

 

All this is logical for Nisargadatta Maharaj said only one in ten

million can understand the concept of non duality, even

intellectually.

 

As I said earlier she isn't a nonce and she isn't stealing from

people. The recent tsunami showed she puts her money where her mouth

is, building houses, accommodating etc etc. There is alway a need

for karma yogis to teach people to weaken their egos.In the Andaman

Islands the Indian Govt gave some people only two rupees in help.

 

People have romantic ideas about India but if you visit you will see

it is essentially a running open sewer-toilet with a middle class as

grasping, corrupt, capitalistic, western, caste conscious and greedy

as I have ever seen.

 

The saving grace is the spirituality in the villages and ashrams,

and the philosophy buried in their teachings.

 

By the standards of modern India, Amma would be a great Saint in

comparison. She is not my Guru, I don't need one, but she does good

work and I am yet to hear anything negative that outweighs the

charity she does. Some of the people around her may be somewhat

different but that is par for the course........ONS...Tony.
