Coptic Gospel of Thomas

 

P) These are the secret sayings which the living Jesus spoke and

which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.

1) And He said, " Whoever finds the interpretation of these sayings

will not experience death. "

(N.B. The word 'Jew' mentioned in this text should, in my opinion

refer to the Sadducees, and not the everyday meaning.)

 

I interpret this to mean that whoever understands and applies these

teachings will achieve Liberation or Moksha/Nirvana/Kingdom of

Heaven. Death is a separation from our desires and attachments,

according to the great philosopher Sri Sankaryacharya. So once all

our attachments have gone and the mind is purified we can gain

Liberation.
