Even eating food establishes samskaras, but as they are necessary it seems they are non binding. I don't know the level of Patanjali's spiritual development, although I have a couple of different copies of his sutras. There was a grammarian by the same name also. Any thought or desire prevents Moksha but in some way not having preferences in food for example, doesn't count. Probably, as I have said before, they are samksaras of survival and natural function in the body. Even with Sex, it is the mind or ego that builds up the natural biological desire into an indulgence of lust etc. I think there has to come a time when we rely on ourselves and not scriptures written by some other person, who may or may not be a Mukta. In the end result there is a disconnect, with a Jivanmukta but up to that time the person has these desires in the body and isn't a witness. However as I have previously stated, eating creates samskaras but doesn't prevent Moksha, why should any other bodily function?.........ONS..Tony
