Guest guest
WHERE IS GOD? TastingSugar/ Rasa Von Werder October 23, 2005 Please answer these questions on this site or the one listed above. It is for an article I am writing and for discussion to edify many. 1 If God is in Infinity and therefore beyond us, how can we know God? 2 If God is infinite can there be such a thing as one perfect religion or best religion for everyone? 3 How do you decide which religion or spiritual discipline is good, bad or not so good? 4 Should God be symbolized as Spirit/Energy, as male God, Mother God or how? What is the best symbolism to you and why? 5 Almost all religions, certainly most, espouse love. Why then has so much evil ocurred in the name of God? 6 If you are God in the yoga/Buddhist sense of the word, then should you still pray? Or just work on being God or finding the Self/God within? Should you work only on nonduality or should you work on the dual vision also? 7 Which is more important, finding your own Enlightenment, or helping others? If tending to others interferes with your meditation and God presence, should you ignore them or should you tend to them, even though they disturb your inner state? 8 If God is within each person (as well as all creation) why is God so difficult to find? Shouldn't this be easy? 9 What is the purpose of mystical experiences; visions, voices, dreams, revelations and such. Are they good in any way or bad? 10 If you had to spend the rest of your life on an island with people how would you like them to be? Describe the kind of people you could bear spending the rest of your life with on an island. 11 When you see God face to face how will God look? When you die and go to Heaven, what will you see? Explain what you think you will see. Thank you for answering. Please if you will discuss this here or on the group: TastingSugar/

Guest guest
Useful answers. I would answer the following question differently: "Should God be symbolized as Spirit/Energy, as male God, Mother God or how? What is the best symbolism to you and why?"As long as you are clear that God is the "Pure Awareness" (in you and in the Prakruti (Nature) around).. it does not matter which symbol you use. Just make sure you don't cling onto the symbol and lose God... that is Pure awareness. Any symbol is ok as long as one understands "what" it is a symbol of. But the moment the symbol becomes "exclusive", spirituality stops. For eg. some of them who use energy as a symbol, have the risk of falling into the trap of Siddhis if Awareness lapses. Guest guest
Here is my attempt at a reply: 1 If God is in Infinity and therefore beyond us, how can we know God? God is not beyond us. God is the Infinite Potential of which our life is a Limited Manifestation. We don't know God (by senses and mind)... we rather remove our ignorance and realise our Oneness with it. 2 If God is infinite can there be such a thing as one perfectreligion or best religion for everyone? Each person will have his Dharma (religion) depending on his/her karma. For Arjuna it was to be a warrior. Living our individual Dharma without attachment to results (Karma) is spirituality. Modern religions such as Hinduism, Christianity etc are mere sects. Would you consider what you do for 24 hrs of your day as your Dharma/religion of what you do for 1 hour on a Sunday as your religion? Think! 3 How do you decide which religion or spiritual discipline is good, bad or not so good? Refer to the answer above. You do not select your Dharma... it reveals itself to you.4 Should God be symbolized as Spirit/Energy, as male God, Mother Godor how? What is the best symbolism to you and why? God is "Pure Awareness". All symbols can limit you unless you are clear what they ultimately stand for!5 Almost all religions, certainly most, espouse love. Why then hasso much evil ocurred in the name of God? Evil has occured in the name of Sects! God is Universal and beyond Good and Evil.6 If you are God in the yoga/Buddhist sense of the word, then shouldyou still pray? Or just work on being God or finding the Self/Godwithin? Should you work only on nonduality or should you work on thedual vision also? The only work needed to be done is to disidentify from all limitations... senses, mind, intellect, ego, sects etc. It can be done through Surrender (Bhakti), Self-enquiry (Jnana), Renunciation of results (Karma Yoga) or purifying the consciousness(Raj Yoga). The path depends on individual disposition... none is superior than the others in an absolute sense and all lead to the same result... "disidentification from limitations"!7 Which is more important, finding your own Enlightenment, or helpingothers? If tending to others interferes with your meditation and Godpresence, should you ignore them or should you tend to them, eventhough they disturb your inner state? You can help others to reach only that level where you have reached yourself. So the former depends on the later!8 If God is within each person (as well as all creation) why is Godso difficult to find? Shouldn't this be easy? God is difficult to find since we seek God (i.e. Permanent Happiness) outside of us. The search needs to happen within.9 What is the purpose of mystical experiences; visions, voices, dreams, revelations and such. Are they good in any way or bad? These become obstacles the moment you start desiring/enjoying them, or even if you start avoiding/detesting them. The best way is to keep Awareness that all these are temporary and not the Truth one is seeking.10 If you had to spend the rest of your life on an island with peoplehow would you like them to be? Describe the kind of people you couldbear spending the rest of your life with on an island. Most of us are on an island of one! The whole idea of spirituality is to merge all these islands or rather realise that these individual islands have the same substratum.11 When you see God face to face how will God look? When you die andgo to Heaven, what will you see? Explain what you think you will see. Who dies? Not me! Who sees God? Its what you/I are. God is Pure Awareness! We can only be "Pure Awareness". - Sachin Chavan www.sachinchavan.com ---- Rasa Von Werder 10/24/05 03:12:51 advaitajnana WHERE IS GOD?
