Essentially worship is outside of oneself and is for those that still imagine that 'God' is somewhere else, ruling and deciding what sin is and what sin isn't etc. This inevitably leads to the road of the charlatan spiritual leaders, who claim to be incarnations/avatars of god or sent by god or some other nonsense. As Ramana says,'if 'god' made the world then let him take care of it'. In the meantime we deal with our own karmas, and belief created karmas that keep us in this illusion.............Tony.
