Guest guest
AWARENESS Meditation has all sorts of meanings to all sorts of people. If the word has anything to do with Awakening then it can have only one purpose: Awakening, SELF-realization. It takes only one word for meditation to be (lead to) SELF-realized. And this is SELF-guaranteed, Always and Absolutely. The one word for being the SELF is not knowledgeand not wisdom and not rote or ritual... but the word Awareness. When meditation is used to try to predict the next thought... then sooner or later an Awareness sets in that it is impossible to predict any thought. (Exactly the same in Physics, and thus its Uncertainty Principle.) This Awareness then leads to the obvious: if I cannot predict the next thought then thoughts cannot be controlled ... because the mind is the thought so it cannot even observe a thought ( it only thinks it is observing when there is no thinking because it is also just a thought.) This Awareness is very funny because the mind thinks it is observing a thought by "being the memory of the thought" it thought it observed. What is funny: The instant the mind thinks it is observing a thought is the instant that thought is gone and then the mind is just the memory of the thought. And memory is just another thought that is no different from any other thought the mind thought it observed when it supposedly was that thought. (I say "Supposedly" because the only evidence that there was ever a thought in the first place is the memory of the thought, which is not much evidence because a memory is just another thought.) When Meditation somehow leads to the Awareness of "I cannot predict the next thought so I cannot predict / control any thought" then this Awareness is the Always ABSOLUTE: SELF-guaranteed SELF-realization. The SELF-realization from/of Meditation thus has absolutely nothing to do with effort or wisdom, rote or ritual because it is nothing more but this Awareness: that the Mind is NOT just a collection of thoughts -- with a brain/body attached -- because it is the totality of thoughts, the whole Universe. And the Supreme Comedy of this Awareness we keep calling SELF-realization: if we could really control our thoughts then we would simply turn them all off to be the SELF, Samadhi, SELF-realized – until we (somehow do the impossible and) get bored with Samadhi so we then turn the thoughts back on so that our brain-body can start acting again our role in "life," living. The only difference between this "acting" we call "Life" and the acting of Hollywood: Actors in Hollywood are usually Aware that they are acting. Unless we are Aware, we are not-Aware we are just following a script and acting our roles in life exactly like Hollywood actors follow a script to act their roles in their movies. -- really, Reality, SELF-guaranteed.
