It do have some effect on the relaxation level but it is not the real thing that meditation offers. I am living in India and it is the general belief that if anyone demands money for instruction in spirituality, it is commerce, not spirituality. At the same time the seeker is supposed to pay for the services received a reasonable sum of money. > The Genuine Guru does not demand any money. For example all the Vipassana Meditation centers in India provide free boarding and lodging and meditation instruction for ten days. If one feels so one can donate some money at the end of the mcourse. Many of my friends have attended Vipasdsana (Insight) meditation course and tells me about their excellent experience. > In the 70s i have seen ads about " Alpha phone aquarius " , a feed back based device for relaxation, available in the US. Like an EEG the residual voltage on the brow due to the brain acitvity is used to modulate the sound wave generated bym an oscillator. One is supposed to control the pitch of the whistling sound by ones own mental effort. > IMHO there is no short cut to spiritual progress. India Namaste, All these music type tapes etc, of which I have some, should be really termed dharana not meditation/dhyana, for meditation is above the mind wherein dwells the sounds....Tony. --- End forwarded message ---
