I think Lovelock said polar countries, it may be my misquote, re

poles. Although you do bring up an important point about polar

nights.......Here in Canada they are busily developing the oil sands

and thinking only a few years ahead as is usual.......I'm not a

complete pessimist but I fear we are perhaps on an unstoppable

journey to oblivion right now, which can only be ameliorated in the

interim, unless fantastic new technology arises.........Tony.

There is also the thought of paralaya of planets, and perhaps Mars is

in pralaya and the earth will follow..........
