Namaste, Kundalini is the universal mind it is everywhere and everything. There is nothing to awaken as it is awake. What is happening is depending on the amount of cleansing required ones sheaths or kosas react differently or seem to. In other words the cleansing prana-sakti is actually what people call Kundalini. As Sarada Devi said K will rise imperceptibly even japa will do it... So if one is having violent and extreme experiences in K then it just the cleansing prana-sakti...
