An Avatar is a descent yes...from perhaps the highest level of consciousness but is not a realised person or jiva. An Avatar may become a Mukta but they are not born as muktas that is impossible.. As you should know one of the greatest concepts Indian thought gave to the world was Sakshin or witness........Nobody is going to do anything...a man's achievements in great building etc is not more important than the home of the bower bird...to the universe. Humans may opt to come back and help, voluntarily or perhaps involuntarily, and so we have the concept of avatar and bodhisattvas. Humanity will never progress as long as the dog's Nobody can lead you to Moksha although I will admit certain circumstances in society will help somebody attempt to take that path.... I'm not even sure that extraordinary qualities are relevant as they are subjective...It best to form a committee, a committee of one and do your sadhana or vichaara.Cheers Tony.
