Authentic palm leaf readings are enlightened cognitions of old yogis for all the karmically connected persons who would present themselves to the lineal descendants (typically family members) who would keep a certain set of leaves. They are not like "having your tea leaves read". Instead, they represent the prior observations of yogis about the destiny of certain karmically connected peoples in the future. For example, a friend of mine who was recognized by one of the Shankaracharyas of India as a lineal yogini, was taken to one of the palm leave readers associated with the Shankara advaita tradition. As is common in such readings, the reader went through a long sorting process based on the details of her life. Eventually they arrived on the leaf that represented the karmic details of her life. What was shocking was the particular leaf that was meant for her--and written centuries before--contained her English name. Not her Sanskrit sanyassi name: her English name of birth. If you are willing to accept the presence of a state of consciousness beyond time and place, then ultimately you should be prepared to accept the logical concomitants of such realities. The palm leaf libraries known as the Surya Samhita, and other such collections, IMO do represent the waking state reality of such nondual directed insight.
