Yes yielding our heart to the Supreme Lover shall guarantee Bliss now and ever !

From the Garland- WHO TranslationVerse 137. The meaning of the saying that one should not approach the Guru> empty-handed, is simply this. "One should go to him,> who is not distinct from the Supreme Being, with one's Heart full> of love."> ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~> > This> quotation is taken from the book, Guru--Ramana- -Vachana- -Mala by "Who,"> published by Sri Ramanasramam.

Dear Harsha_ Chaithra,

I have written a short article on Luthar.com for beginners in Self Enquiry-

called Aids To Self Enquiry. Please read this and then ask me questions on what

ever aspects you like.

There are other articles there too by Dr. Luthar Harsha which are very helpful.

Other members here may wish to help you, if you ask questions.

The best text is Bhagavan's own Who Am I and Self Enquiry. Both of these texts

can be downloaded from Luthar.com or the main Ramanasramam site. It is Grace to

begin Self Enquiry which Bhagavan says is the direct path and infallible way to

Self Realisation.

All very best wishes in your quest, with warm regards, Alan

Breath

Is the bridge

Between being

And being not.,

Called by people

" Life " and " Death " .

The timeless,

All containing life,

One without a second

Has nothing to oppose.

The opposite of death

Is birth.

Inhaling –

I am born.

Exhaling –

I die.

In the meantime

My life

Flows,

Unaffected.

Praise be!

Verse 230. Birth ([living] in the world, due to ignorance and desire) is verily

for the sake of death; and (every) creature dies only to be born (again) in the

world; (but) the death of the ego is real death and (is also) eternal birth (not

shadowed by death).

From the Garland of Guru's Sayings WHO Translationthis quotation is from the book, Guru--Ramana- -Vachana- -Mala by "Who, published by Sri Ramanasramam.Verse 233. The falling off of the five sheaths (meaning the body, or physical manifestation) , of the one that has become established in the ecstasy of Silence, by the grace of the Supreme Being, was called Nirvana by Sugata. (6)(6) Sugata is one of the names of Bhagavan (Lord) Buddha, who gave to theegoless State the name "Nirvana"; the meaning conveyed here is that thegreat teacher pointed to the same goal as the one indicated here.

From the Garland of Guru's Sayings WHO Translationthis quotation is from the book, Guru--Ramana- -Vachana- -Mala by "Who, published by Sri Ramanasramam.Verse 234. Just as the moon does not shine at all when the sun (naturally) rises in the east, so when the Sun of Pure Consciousness rises (in the Heart), the self-assertiveness of the jiva (individual self, or ego) ceases at once. (7)(7) It cannot be supposed that the Jivanmukta (Self-Realized Sage) has any will of his own; he acts according as the Divine Nature prompts him; if we speak of him as a person, we must also recognize that his personality is not distinct from that of God..

Section 11. NON-DUALITY

Verse 241. When by the Grace of God, which is easily won by devotion (to Him),

the mind becomes calm in the Heart, then is experienced that (Single or) One

(Reality), which is(both) the light and the sky (space) by which and in which

the mind and all else seem to exist (but in fact are not actually real).(9)

(9) The One Reality, which is Pure Consciousness, is the sole remainder in the

Egoless State. It has been explained that the mind begins to function only on

the arising of the ego-sense. Since this has the form " I am this body, " (or, " I

am a separate, individual entity or being, " ) the awareness of a body is

simultaneous with the birth of the ego.

Verse 241 (Footnote 9 cont'd).

Thus, the mind and the world of which the body is a part (necessarily) arise

together. They are inseparable, to the extent of suggesting that the two are

one, and that the world is only a subjective experience and not (actually) an

objective reality. So long as the ego survives, and the world is being seen, the

Real Self is practically non-existent. On the ego being extinguished, (only

then) the Self is manifest. Now the question is, does the world continue to

appear after the Real Self is realized to be real? The answer is, that the world

goes the way of the mind, which shares the fate of the ego; this is (being)

expounded in the present verse.

This verse states the metaphysical truth that the mind, as well as the world,

which appears in it subjectively, has no independent existence, but is (only) an

appearance in the Real Self.

When there is the ego-sense, the Real Self is itself seen as all this.

When the ego-sense ceases finally -- instead of being temporarily latent as in

sleep -- the Real Self, being manifest as it really is, can no more appear as

the world, which it never was.

The Sage that abides in the experience of the Real Self, having cremated the ego

by the fire of supreme devotion of self surrender saying 'obeisance to God', has

the realisation of 'I am God'.
