Verse 285. That Pure

Consciousness which has the form " I AM, " is the

truth of the Self; this is not a thought in the mind,

because the mind is dead when the ego is dead (28).

 

(28) Here the ego and the Real

Self are distinguished; the latter is the pure " I

AM, " while the former is the " I

am " limited by the addition of a predicate, (such) as

" I am this " ( " I am that, " " I am so

and so, " or " I am such and such, " etc.).
