It is possible that a neo-A might become intellectually enlightened but if he or she has subconscious impediments in the mind that is all it will be....a reincarnating non dual conscious mind....A guru with sakitpat and diksha is req'd....unless you have completed sadhana in a previous life almost like Ramana... The guru can be somebody you haven't even met but may know about you, or you have read about them....I trust in my inner guru these days but I still communicate with a Mukta from time to time...if my mind is not so clear.... Thinking back 20 years or more I am sure this was a diksha by touch and subtle plane.....I didn't understand it or have term for it at the time but it is still with me..... One time on an ashram in India I was lying on my mattress peacefully when an old yogi (astral?), in a shabby brown robe came into the room. He told me to tap him on the shoulder and he pointed where. As soon as I did that I went up through all the dimensions of form and mishapen beings and just coloured energy until my mind went beyond experience....I lost the yogi or siddha of course, in the no mind or samdhi state and then ended up on my mattress awake...........Tony, 1.Devotion to an image of a dead guru is good for concentrating the mind but no more.2.To know the Self .Self Enquirey is required.3.A Guru's help is required to do Self-Enquirey properly...-Yogi Ramiah asks...'It requires a living Guru who could show it in practice.'..Ramana replied ,'It is true'. When the mind wanders among worldly things a layer of vasanas forms on it which prevents it from reflecting or being aware of the light of the Self within....Mathru Sri Sarada..
