I have to admit a weakness for mental play - in particular, word games ;-). Silence is all well and good, and I get plenty of it in the deep sleep state. For example I enjoy Chess as it sharpens intellectual discrimination. The 'mental play' I was criticising was idle day dreaming or uncontolled mind wandering.
