Guest guest
Dear List Members, On his own list, John, who is one of our group too, is doing a translation of Ramana's Forty Verses on Existence. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the original Tamil words and their meanings. Even if you do not expect to learn Tamil, you can learn a great deal from seeing what the words mean originally. As he has just done verse 2, it will be easy to catch up by looking back just a few messages. I highly recommend joining to meditate upon the meaning of the Tamil words. It will not add much to your inbox. The link is at bottom of his post. Thank you, Gloria Om Namo Bhagavathe Sri Ramanaaya From the previous Verse: mattanaiyuN taanaa mavanulaku — karttanuyir attanaiyum taan aam avan. ulaku, karttan, uyir all that lot the Self is He. The World, God and the soul >>>>> Now picking up the thread from the previous verse, here are the words for verse 2: mummutalai yemmatamu muRkoLLu moormutalee mummutalaay niRkumenRu mummutalu — mummutalee yennalang kaara mirukkumadd’ee yaankeddut tannilaiyi niRRa Ralaiyaakung — konnee and now to view the triple matrix set: mummutalai yemmatamu muRkoLLu moormutalee mum mutalai em matamum mun koLLum ‘oor mutal ee Three basics/ 3 roots all religions postulate ‘a single source Three fundamentals mummutalaay niRkumenRu mummutalu — mummutalee mum mutalaay NiRkum’ enRum mum mutalum, mum mutal ee! as 3 basics will stand’ always 3 basics, Three basics indeed! yennalang kaara mirukkumadd’ee yaankeddut ennal akang– –kaaram irukkum maddu ee yaan keddut saying, the ego>>> >>>>>>>>>>>| existing as long as, the “I” having perished (i.e. ‘as long as the ego exists') tannilaiyi niRRa Ralaiyaakung — konnee tan Nilaiyil NiRRal talai aakum konnee the Self-State in abiding/remaining the main thing is Uselessly... (i.e. ‘is the important thing)' Translation: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Every religion postulates three fundamentals, the world the soul and God. The argument as to whether one First Cause manifests as three or whether three First Principles remain as three will continue as long as the ego exists. To remain in one's own [true] state, after the ' I ' has perished is the highest attainment. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ [Coming Next:.....
