Dear Friend, I may be putting this in a too simplistic manner. Please find underneath a very basic view on both chart views.Learned Members, please correct me. Dear Moderator, if this contains errors, please don't let it go on board. Best wishes,Beatriz -> South Indian Chart is SIGN oriented. I mean, the same sign occupies always same place, same square. Pisces is always on top row, first square counting from the

left. Aries is right next on the right, then Taurus,... counting is done CLOCKWISE. Ex. Please, consider a Pisces Ascendant. 1st House will be in Pisces, 2nd House in Aries, and so forth. -> North Indian Chart (diamond shaped) is HOUSE oriented. I mean, 1st house is always on top, right in the middle. There's the Ascendant, too. Then, going COUNTER-CLOCKWISE, we have the 2nd,3rd,... Houses are always in the same place, what moves are the Signs. Ex: Please, consider a Saggitarius Ascendant. 1st House will contain Saggitarius,(going to the left), 2nd House will contain Caprio and so forth. From Aathreya Doctor BalaKrishna :

Dear Jyothish Pandits:

In Andhra Pradesh State of South India there are two types of Raasi Charts -

One chart is Savya Chart that is clockwise and another type is Apa Savya Chart that is anti clockwise, because when we look up into the Sky the Constellations appear from Right to Left.

Unity in Diversity.
