Guest guest
dear friends all the navagrahas or nine planets are male in gender. moon (male) married the 27 daughters (stars) of dakhsa and then also slept with brihaspati's wife tara to beget mercury. several puranas detail deeply how moon and even venus shukra are male planets. but planet earth is a female as it is called bhudevi according to hindu mythology. however, in astrology (for a man) moon represents the mother and venus represents the wife. since these are the only two planets attributed to mother and wife respectively they are called female planets. hence do not take the gender division technically and take a holistic approach. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , Jagadish Tuppad <jagadishtuppad wrote: > > Hello all > > Mars, Sun, Jupiter Males Planets > Venus, Moon, Rahu Female Planets > Mercury, Ketu, Saturn Neutral Planets > > Regards > > Jagadish Tuppad > > balkrishna kulkarni <bvkulkarni wrote: > SAMEERA, > > ALL ARE MALES. > > >Sameera <sameera_shah01982 > > > > > > planets - Male / female > >Mon, 2 Apr 2007 21:53:52 -0700 (PDT) > > > >Dear guru ji, > > > > Can any one tell me which planes are male and which are female. > >According to my knowlage is this correct or not > > > > Sun Male > >Moon Female > >Mangal Male > >Bhudh > >Guru > >Shukra Female > >Shani Male > >Rahu Male > >Ketu Male > >Nepthun > >Pluto > >Harshal > > > > thanks > > > > > > > >Don't be flakey. Guest guest
Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakotee Sama PrabhaNurvighnam kuru mey DevaSarva kaaryeshu SarvadaaPranaam Kumarji,According to Maharishi Parasara, in the BPHS, chapter 3-sloka 19;19. SEX OF THE PLANETS: Mercury and Saturn are neuters. The Moon and Venus are females, while the Sun, Mars and Jupiter are males.*Rahu and Ketu are not mentioned.I also have a book by William Levacy [beneath a Vedic Sky] where Saturn is identified as either neuter or male, Rahi is identified as female and Ketu is identified as neuter. As someone who is very young and immature in the study of Jyotish, and not under the tutelage of a Jyotish Guru I have to turn my attention to Maharishi Parasara as my main source of knowledge, so I look at the sex of the planets according to his teachings.I hope I have been helpful.Namaste, olusanya , kiranjit kumar <kapatjal wrote:>> stars as par lalkitab r as under,> male--jupiter,sun and mars> female-venus and moon(romeshwar chander shastri ji of kalka in his book 'lal kitab ke anupam upaya' has included budh also in istri grah;which i take to be coreect; while lal kitab says budh as a mumattash?( i have not been able todecipher urdu word)chakra in which all grah ghoomte hain.> paapi grah--sani ,rahu and ketu; sani has also been named as napunsak grah.> i shall request prabhakar ji and bhaskar ji to give the correct version so that all may be benefitted.> kiranjeet.> > Jagadish Tuppad jagadishtuppad wrote:> Hello all> > Mars, Sun, Jupiter Males Planets> Venus, Moon, Rahu Female Planets > Mercury, Ketu, Saturn Neutral Planets> > Regards> > Jagadish Tuppad> > balkrishna kulkarni bvkulkarni wrote:> SAMEERA,> > ALL ARE MALES.> > >Sameera sameera_shah01982 > > > > > planets - Male / female> >Mon, 2 Apr 2007 21:53:52 -0700 (PDT)> >> >Dear guru ji,> >> > Can any one tell me which planes are male and which are female.> >According to my knowlage is this correct or not> >> > Sun Male> >Moon Female> >Mangal Male> >Bhudh> >Guru> >Shukra Female> >Shani Male> >Rahu Male> >Ketu Male> >Nepthun> >Pluto> >Harshal> >> > thanks> >> >> >> >Don't be flakey. Guest guest
dear friends often people get carried away by what is written literally and surmise to wrong conclusions. all astrology teachers classified the gender based division ONLY DUE TO THEIR DISPOSITIONS. the so called male planets sun, mars and jupiter are termed male because they can give results on their own like males. the so called female planets moon and venus are termed female because they repreent mother and wife respectively. the co called neuter planets saturn and mercury are termed neuter because they can give either of these results. if any astrology book writer (be it sage parashara or modern westerner) mention the planets as male or female it is only for the disposition representation part and not representing their true genders like humans. the seven planets are suras or devatas. rahu and ketu were born asuras or rakshas but by default after drinking nectar by deceit, got plaentary devata status. vedic astrology is a part and parcel of the vedas which are based on hindu mythology. all these vedas, puranas and upanishads mention unanimously as to how moon was a male etc. astro students may note that according to hindu mythology all nine planets are males and the division on gender basis is done in astrology ONLY FOR DISPOSITON OF RESULTS. i can quote hundreds of verses from vedas, puranas and upanishads which mention the planets as male with detailed stories of male moon who married 27 stars and who got a curse and got relieved by shiva's boon with waxing and waning etc. hence all astro students must take a holistic approach and not swayed away by the literal meanings. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , " olu_bey " <olusanya wrote: > > Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakotee Sama Prabha > Nurvighnam kuru mey Deva > Sarva kaaryeshu Sarvadaa > > Pranaam Kumarji, > > According to Maharishi Parasara, in the BPHS, chapter 3-sloka 19; > > 19. Guest guest
Aum Shri Ganeshaya NamahaPranaam Pandit Arjun,Thank you for your informative post and recommendation on a holistic approach. My questions are;1. Keeping everything you said in mind, when analyzing a chart how should we view the sexes of the planets in their disposition?2. Since even the planets considered female are actually male, do we ever consider the Moon and Venus as male when analyzing a chart, if so, how do we determine when to do so?I ask these questions because, as a new student of Jyotish, it is often difficult to determine what information is accurate, and what techniques and methodologies I should be using as I seek to further my understanding.Because the BPHS is held in such high regard by everyone who studies Vedic astrology I often refer to it as the final authority when I am faced with different explanations or viewpoints of the same principles. Is this wrong? As I have stated, I am new to the study of Jyotish, so I ask a lot of questions that many may see as basic, but I want my knowledge to have a firm foundation in the basic principles, so these questions are important to me. Often these very basic questions are never answered by the more knowledgeable and practiced members of the forums I participate in, so I again refer to the BPHS.I have the utmost respect for Jyotish as a spiritual science and would very much like to be able to incorporate it's principle into my daily life.Thank you for your time in responding to basic questions with comprehensive and informative answers.Respectfully, olusanya , "panditarjun2004" <panditarjun2004 wrote:>> dear friends> > often people get carried away by what is written literally and > surmise to wrong conclusions.> > all astrology teachers classified the gender based division ONLY DUE > TO THEIR DISPOSITIONS.> > the so called male planets sun, mars and jupiter are termed male > because they can give results on their own like males.> > the so called female planets moon and venus are termed female because > they repreent mother and wife respectively.> > the co called neuter planets saturn and mercury are termed neuter > because they can give either of these results.> > if any astrology book writer (be it sage parashara or modern > westerner) mention the planets as male or female it is only for the > disposition representation part and not representing their true > genders like humans. the seven planets are suras or devatas. rahu > and ketu were born asuras or rakshas but by default after drinking > nectar by deceit, got plaentary devata status.> > vedic astrology is a part and parcel of the vedas which are based on > hindu mythology. all these vedas, puranas and upanishads mention > unanimously as to how moon was a male etc.> > astro students may note that according to hindu mythology all nine > planets are males and the division on gender basis is done in > astrology ONLY FOR DISPOSITON OF RESULTS.> > i can quote hundreds of verses from vedas, puranas and upanishads > which mention the planets as male with detailed stories of male moon > who married 27 stars and who got a curse and got relieved by shiva's > boon with waxing and waning etc.> > hence all astro students must take a holistic approach and not swayed > away by the literal meanings. > > with best wishes and blessings> pandit arjun> www.rudraksharemedy.com> > > , "olu_bey" olusanya@ wrote:> >> > Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakotee Sama Prabha> > Nurvighnam kuru mey Deva> > Sarva kaaryeshu Sarvadaa> > > > Pranaam Kumarji,> > > > According to Maharishi Parasara, in the BPHS, chapter 3-sloka 19;> > > > 19. Guest guest
dear friend for all astrological evaluations like deciphering the child of the native by seeing the planets etc., consider moon and venus as FEMALE DISPOSITORS in the sense as they are referred as female planets. there are so many systems within vedic astrology and no book including BPHS is final authority. for those who follow jaimini principles, they have a different final authority. bhrigu samhita and other samhitas as well as other nadis written by various sages have thier own followings. however, the basics remain the same in all books written by various sages. my only advise to learners of astrology is that dont treat these planets as females in gender (instead treat them as representing feminine gender). also one may amuse why moon and venus are not represented as females in any navagraha temple anywhere in the world. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , " olu_bey " <olusanya wrote: > > Aum Shri Ganeshaya Namaha > > Pranaam Pandit Arjun, > > Thank you for your informative post and recommendation on a holistic > approach. > > My questions are; > > 1. Guest guest
Greetings to everyone on this forum I am a student of very ancient history, and particularly the astrology used in very ancient times. Moon Mansions are a very ancient form of astrology and I think was probably the first form of astrology. They are mentioned in ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Indian astrology and always carry echoes of a time before patriachial thought became dominant. In my studies I have discovered that in some civilisations the Moon was considered male and the Sun female. The Moon was considered male because it was always wandering and inconstant and the Sun female because it was a stable, constant force for the world. We now live in modern times and are learning a great deal about the structures, polarities and resonance of life and life forms in our planet, our solar system and the universe. By the nature of the universe, which provides female, male and neutral energies throughout the structures of the universe, it is impossible for all the planets in the solar system to carry male energy - there would be no resonance, no balance and no life. It is probable there is supposed to be an even balance between female, male and neutral energies within the Solar System, as there is throughout most structures in life. The balance is likely to be: Female: Venus, Earth (with her Moon). Male: Mars, Jupiter. Neutral: Mercury, Saturn. The polarity of the outer planets are yet to be finally sorted out, and as they are transcendant planets, it might be of a different order. The Sun is the central force of this unit. The Nodes of the Moon are not planets, but energy points where the Moon moves back and forth from Southern to Northern latitude along the ecliptic. All the other planets have nodes as well. This is important to the inhabitants of Earth, but not particularly so to the Solar System. It is possible one Node carries female polarity and one male. I do not understand why it is important to you for all planets to be male, but it is not possible. I have noticed that there seems to be a great fear of women and therefore a desire to denigrate female power throughout several branches of Indian astrological thought. This is much more so than in Chinese astrology or any form of Western astrology.
