HANUMAN CHALISA- PART 3

 

Choupaai -- Sankat te ............ dhyan jo lawe [26]

 

Hanuman rids (him) of distress, whosoever invokes him with all his heart, in act and speech

 

Sab par Ram .................... sakal tum saja [27]

 

The ascetic King Rama rules over all (the universe); and you assisted (even) Him in all His missions

 

Aur manorath jo.................. jiwan phal pawe [28]

 

Whosoever seeks (with unfaltering devotion) your blessings, attains life's everlasting bliss

 

Charo jug ................. jagat ujiyara [29]

 

Your glory is eternal throughout the four eons (Satya, Dwapara, Treta and Kali Yugas); your effulgence is manifest all over the world

 

Sadhu sant ke........................ Ram dulare [30]

 

You are the protector of sages and saints; the liquidator of demons; (and) the beloved of Sri Rama

 

Ashta siddhi ..........................Janki Mata [31]

 

You (possess the power to) bestow the eight supernatural powers * and the nine treasure of Kuvera ** (to your devotees) - the Mother Janaki has endowed this gracious blessing on you.

* (1) Invisibility; (2) to expand; (3) to gain weight; (4) to lose weight or contract; (5) fulfilment of desire; (6) to go underground/ or to be air borne; (7) to rule; and (8) to hypnotise

 

** Paddma, Maha-Paddma, Shankha, Makara, Kachchhap, Mukunda, Kunda, Neela and Kharva.

 

Ram rasayan ........... raghupati ke dasa [32[

 

You are possessed of the devine prescription; (namely) devotion to Lord Rama; (so you are) eternally at the service of Lord Raghupati

 

Tumhare bhajan .................. dukh bisrawe [33]

 

By singing hyms dedicated to you, one attains Lord Rama, and gets freed from the cycles of re-birth and transmigration.

 

Antkal Rugubar-pur................. Hari bhakta kahai [34]

 

And at last, after termination of this life, he ascends to the Supreme Abode (Vaikuntha) of Lord Raghuveer where he takes the (ultimate) birth as a devotee of Lord Hari (i.e. he attains final beatitude, the Nirvana)

 

Aur Devta chitta................ sarva sukh karayee [35]

Other deities may not care to take heed (of a devotee's prayers); but one who (takes delight in) serving Sri Hanuman, certainly attains bliss.

 

Sankat katay ....................... Hanumat balbira [36]

 

Whoever invokes mighty Hanuman, gets rid of his distress, and all his agonies disappear.

 

Jai Jai Jai Hanuman .............. dev ki nai [37]

 

O Lord Hanuman! I hail your victories over and over again. Bestow on me your grace as my venerable preceptor.

 

Jo sat bar ........................ maha sukh hoi [38]

 

Whosoever chants this prayer (Hanuman-Chalisa) a hundred times, attains freedom from all (earthly) bondage and enjoys divine bliss.

 

Jo yeh padhe .................... sakhi gaurisa [39]

 

He who reads these forty verses (Hanuman Chalisa) in glory of Sri Hanuman, qualifies for Absolute Liberation (Moksha) - Lord Gaurishanker stands witness to this.

 

Tulsidas sada ......... hriday mah dera [40]

 

Tulsidas has forever been a (devout) servant to Lord Hari (Sri Rama); (so) O Lord (Hanuman), may you please abide in his heart.

 

Doha -- Pawan tanay ....... hriday basahoo sur bhoop [

 

O son of Pavana, the saviour of the distressed!

You are the embodiment of auspiciousness. O Lord of gods! May you please dwell in my heart in company with (Lord) Rama, Lakshmana and Sita.
