PLANETS – Strength and weaknesses

Q : How to Determine the strengths and weaknesses of Planets in a birth Chart?

Ans: The first step in interpreting an individual Rasi chakra is to ascertain the strength and weakness of each Planet according to its placement in the horoscope. Each Planet not only embodies the house it rules, it also expresses that Identity through the sign and house it occupies in the Rasi Chakra.

1. Determine signs of Rulership, Exaltation, Debilitation (Fall), or Moolatrikona.

2. Determine Malefic, Benefic or Neutral Influence.

3. Determine Planetary Friendship, Enmity and Neutrality.

4. Determine Aspects (Drusties).

5. Evaluate the House a Planet Occupies.

6. Determine if a Planet is Vargothama.

7. Shad bala for each Planet: (a) Sthana Bala – Positional Strength; (b) Drig Bala – Aspect; © Naisargika Bala – Natural Strength; (d) Cheshta Bala – Strength of Motion; (e) Dik Bala – Directional Strength; (f) Kala Bala – Strength of Time.

8. Determine each of the House strength. (a) the occupant and house Lords are friendly or inimical relationship; (b)the house is in aspect by a benefic or malefic Planet; © A benefic/neutral/or malefic occupies that house; (d) Trikona Houses (1st,5th and 9th houses); (e) Kendra Houses (1st,4th,7th, and 10th Houses) (f) Upachaya houses (3rd,6th, 10th, 11th Houses); (g) Dusthna

Houses (6th, 8th, and 12th Houses)

9. Packages of Planetary combinations defined as ‘Yoga’.

Without studying the above, an astrologer should not proceed further in assessing a horoscope. Next, the period of assessment should be considered with above tabulation on the strength of Planets, related to the ‘question’ before him. The Desa Lord, Bukti Lord etc. These will correctly point for right assessment on ‘happening’ and also the time it could ‘happen’.

The above procedure is a ‘MUST’ every time a birth chart is studied by any person with knowledge on rudiments in Astrology. – Pathi.

Namasthe,

Dear respectfull Pathy ji,

Your posts are informative and usefull to many studenets of astrology and an

occassional reminder to even experienced ones too.

However, the readability of the posts are poor due to junk characters inserted

in the texts. I think they are unicode characters. Usualy, I don't get such

characters when I write in Ms Word and copy paste here. Could you take a look at

the utility or use another another utility or FONT etc to write the articles

and post.

with warm regards

FWIW -- I have always used notepad for my postings and for the most part NO ONE

HAS ever complained about my formatting! Some of them just hate the CONTENT!

But seriously! The format is more disturbing on internet than the contents!

I have even taken very close and beloved friends to TASK publicly and got them

to pay attention and made them write using notepad or something similar!

What is beautiful is that I did not lose any of those friends just because I

criticised their format or even content or vice versa!

Enemies come readily -- for this is kaliyuga after all! But friends too come

initially in the garb and costume of enemies!

It is up to you to take the chance and either embrace them or forever keep

wondering if the next passer-by was a friend, enemy or even relative?

I am blessed that I was allowed to find Compuserve before I came upon Internet!
