Guest guest Posted December 30, 2008 Report Share Posted December 30, 2008 dear RR ji the branding or imaging of a religion or a caste is generally imposed by the parents on the newborn by virtue of being born in their family. however, as the child grows, you have seen many people converting to the religion of their choice as simply as a hindu chooses a diety to worship within the array of choicest forms presented to him. as regards caste, there are two types of caste branding done to natives. one is by virtue of being born in a family where the native is accredited with so and so caste just because he is born in that caste. this is what is referred mostly. here too when the parents marry intercaste and say the father is one caste and the mother is another caste, the child, due to the male dominated naming system, inherits the caste of the father. some natives convenienty shift to whichever caste of the mother or father they like. it is a differnt thing that when the father is suppose a bengali and the mother is a kashmiri, the mother tongue of the child is reckoned by the constitution as kashmiri and not bengali. some go by the mother side and some go by the father side in inter religious marriages too. then comes the vedas ordained chatur varna structure where by birth all humans are shudras but are classified further by their actions or professions. a brahmin is supposed to be satvik, vegetarian, peaceloving, learnt in all subjects and mastering all shastras, engrossed in continuous devotion to god (daiva bhakti), rightuous way of doing things (sat pravartana) follow dharmic chores of life (sat achar)and devoting his full life in teaching and imparting the knowledge to all alike by seeing god in all and yet remain humble and live happily with whatever he has realising the liberation and salvation. because of these austerity and satvik selfless lokahita (world serving) lifestyles, the sages have recommended that a mantra attaining siddhi will happen say for one lakh times recital by a brahmin, two lakh times recital by a kshatriya, three lakh times recital by a vaishya and four lakh times recital by a shudra. the prostration at the feet of chandala by adi sankara and praising the chandala as lord shiva narrates that same god dwells in all humans and by birth all are chandalas and only by karmas one follows a caste. gita too narrates the same. these qualities, traits, ways and styles are only expected requirements of a caste and natives need not weigh how much expectations are met, for the same god dwells in all. as regards shri PVRji, i can only praise him for being selflessly serving the world in the path of knowledge and my best wishes and blessings to him for his sagelike mission to illuminate the world. by the way, sages as depicted in mythology are not aliens or creatures of other lokas. they are same humans who live for the world for the wellbeing of all. to that extent, any person in this world who is doing selfless service is a sage. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com vedic astrology , " Rohiniranjan " <jyotish_vani wrote: > > Dear Arjun ji, > > Given our global reality -- I have a question about the 'castes', if > I may pose to someone who has if memory serves me rightly -- has > given up a lot in terms of wealth or making it and more importantly > family and stuff that most of us take for granted and then > wonder " what happened?
