Recently, a friend showed his fiancee's chart (sorry, but I can't post it here). This chart had Tula Lagna, with Sukra neecha. I said that I would not prescribe any stone, especially since Sukra was with Rahu and Kuja, and also because stones of genderless grahas like Budha and Sani should not be worn by those of marriageable age. My friend was initially disappointed--he wanted to give fiancee a diamond ring--but finally agreed with me and felt that it is better to go in for a simple gold wedding band. In my humble opinion, prayer, patience and perseverence are critical--of course this is easy to say, but hard to follow, as I well know from personal experience. ~~~~~~~~~ Balaji Narasimhan Author & Editor http://www.balaji.ind.in/ ~~~~~~~~~ ________ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Dear pdk, Have you ever wondered why you've not been able to receive a satisfactory reading of your horoscope? You've been with us for some time now and several members have given their opinion. I'd like you to bear in mind that jyotish is considered a vedanga (limb of the vedas) and, naturally, the influences on 9th house and/or its lord is an important factor that affects the native's ability to receive satisfactory information and hence the astrologers ability to give. In your chart, 9th lord Mars occupies 6th from 9th...6th being the house of obstruction, obstacles etc.. Further to this, Mars is conjunct Ketu who is also known to obstruct. I await your comments... But meditation seems to be the way to a bigger brain. A new study has established that certain regions in the brains of those meditating for a long period were larger than in a similar control group. A group of researchers at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), used highresolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to scan the brains of people who meditate. Specifically, such people showed significantly larger volumes of the hippocampus and areas within the orbitofrontal cortex, the thalamus and the inferior temporal gyrus-regions known for regulating emotions. "We know that people who consistently meditate have a singular ability to cultivate positive emotions, retain emotional stability and engage in mindful behaviour," said Luders, study co-author and postdoctoral fellow at the UCLA Lab of Neuro Imaging. Luders and colleagues examined 44 people, 22 control subjects and 22 who had practised Zazen, Samatha and Vipassana meditation, among others. They had devoted an average of 24 years to the practice. More than half of all the people who meditate said that deep concentration was an essential part of their practice, and most meditated between 10 and 90 minutes daily, said an UCLA release. The researchers used a high-resolution, three-dimensional form of MRI and two different approaches to measure differences in brain structure. These findings were published in NeuroImage. They said rats bred to be highly anxious had very low levels of a brain chemical called fibroblast growth factor 2 or FGF2 compared with rats that were more laid back. But when they improved the anxious rats' living conditions, levels of FGF2 increased and they became less anxious. "The levels of this molecule increased in response to the experiences that the rats were exposed to. It also decreased their anxiety," Javier Perez of the University of Michigan, said. Guest guest
Dear All, //More than half of all the people who meditate said that deep concentration was an essential part of their practice,// The above information is wrong. If they said so, then they don't knew anything about Meditation at all and was not doing it! Meditation and Concentration are nearly opposite. Meditation relaxes us and this could happen only we are NOT trying to concentrate. In meditation we feel ourselves filled with consciousness but concentration is no where near by and is not required and actually all such efforts should be avoided. Concentration is pointing your attention to one thing alone, where as meditation is being in conciseness in total relaxation without trying to point your attention to anything at all. Anyone who say that Meditation requires concentration, don't know about meditation at all, never meditated, and is sincere - it would be wrong to depend on such peoples words, who speak without experience. PS: Try to concentrate and you will never go into meditative state at all! Concentration is good to improve mental power and tension, where as meditation is good to improve sensitivity, consciousness and relaxed awareness.
