Guest guest
We live in rather confused age and times. Things are moving fast, even in the perceptions of the tail-end baby boomers ('50's) and the subsequent generation of flower-children and what not and the next wave of beings and on and on. Since late 80s and thereafter the world has been enveloped by the new reality of New Age, the modern forgiving religion. Everything is fine, there is no sin, there are no responsibilities, there are no barriers, there are no heights, there are no depths, no rises or any falls! Well? That sounds to me like there is no movement! And yet it has been called the New Age Movement by the predominantly western followers and the strategically available Teachers from the East (and west as well). However, if nothing is moving anywhere or going anywhere, to me that sounds suspiciously like status quo! Now, please do not get me all wrong and get fumin' mad at me (smoking is bad, anyway! Any kind of smoking!!) but humor this crumbling ancient artifact! I think I see more and more, some attractive keywords, buzzwords and slogans being tossed around rather carelessly and at times garrishly (sp?). SELF-REALIZATION is one such word which had such profound meaning a couple of decades ago but lately has been challenged by overusage. An analogy from earlier college life comes to mind which I will share. I had a friend in college (late 60s). He was a wonderful fellow generally but and despite his super-bright mind he had a flaw! He was not an accomplished singer or had a very sonorous voice (rather loud and high pitched if you ask me! Or the other half a dozen of us who regularly poked fun at him!). Well he had another BAD habit. He would pick the sweetest song and insert words into it and make it " non- vegetarian " if you know what I mean! And he would repeat that loudly and again and again until the GOOD song was completely destroyed for you! Whenever you heard that song on the radio or in your head, his 'lyrics' would invade and destroy the pleasure for you! He had virgo rising with mercury in deep exaltation and venus also placed there! Sun was in 12th and he had a scar on his cheek from an infection during childhood! What has that got to do with the term self-realization or some such wonderful and soul-uplifting labels and word-icons? YOU GO FIGURE, FORUM FRIENDS!! Guest guest
Notwithstanding, the new age perceptions, and I will stand on it, things are really moving so fast that its all a blur of events, the knowledge explosion has changed all norms and systems. In India, what the venerable British could not accomplish in two centuries; the Cable TV and the internet is achieving in two decades. An entry in the deep Indian hinterland. Similar is the situation elsewhere. The new agers themselves are getting changed with strong influence of Eastern thought processes. The smoke, could be therefore, just an effect and not a cause. The need for brevity is paramount. The urgency to sum up decades of efforts in a sentence. Fast! Commas and exclamation marks are missing and no full stops please......... rishi Why cannot both mercury and venus be exalted or be in debility together....why? --- Rohiniranjan <jyotish_vani wrote: > We live in rather confused age and times. Guest guest
So beautiful to hear the calm voice of reason in the midst of the rock concert that was going on (and some were more like boulders!!). As my friend Charles often impressed upon all of us on the New Age Forum (you should have seen the movement there! And its smaller replica that is blossoming right now as we speak!) -- if one cannot express something in Haiku (17 syllables is the boundary, I am afraid!) then it probably should have remained unborn! A bit harsh perhaps but there is wisdom there, as the concentrated pearl that lives wonderfully in the womb, growing, but at one point must create such upheaval that it would have to be given birth! No other option exists or is available! As to your question about venus and mercury -- I have no clue and am speechless ... ||||||||||||||||||||||| The sixth given to hold enemies, restrictions, challenges REASON thrives and flourishes in such climes LOVE feels shrivelled in the same! ||||||||||||||||||||||| Not quite the Haiku I could have proudly shown to Charles, but hopefully captures the essence and a vast improvement over my usual verbosity, I hope? , rishi shukla <rishi_2000in wrote: > > Notwithstanding, the new age perceptions, and I will > stand on it, things are really moving so fast that its > all a blur of events, the knowledge explosion has > changed all norms and systems. > In India, what the venerable British could not > accomplish in two centuries; the Cable TV and the > internet is achieving in two decades. Guest guest
Well Sir, that makes two of us -- no good at Haiku! Yes they are friends, and more important than that and perhaps diverging from strict 'tradition', even complementary (What is love without a reason and what is the reason if there is no love ;-)) -- but the point here is that it is about the specific surroundings (Virgo vs Pisces) that brings that facet of the two friends to fore. Without the surroundings, they may be in another bhava=rashi and behaving very differently, expressing very differently! Thanks for bringing to our focus a very important factor! The scene changes around the actor and the actor's role changes accordingly but does the actor really change? Are all planets in their diverse and specific roles really just manifestations of the one and same Being? Guest guest
Or are they telling us that extremeness either of love or of reason may lead to incompleteness and there has to be a middle path where both meet.... But then there is the sheer love where the Sufis get their completeness or the sheer Gyan Marga where one reasons out everything..... Still it is interesting to note that in a chart both Ve and Me cannot get exalted, while it is not in case of the other planets. And while Haiku may be the fashion, the old dohas of lets say Rahim and Kabir still do the same though they are not visible in the cimposition of the present poets...as rahim said... rahiman pani raakhiye bin paani sab soon pani gaye na oobre moti manush choon rishi --- Rohiniranjan <jyotish_vani wrote: > Well Sir, that makes two of us -- no good at Haiku! > > Yes they are friends, and more important than that > and perhaps > diverging from strict 'tradition', even > complementary (What is love > without a reason and what is the reason if there is > no love ;-)) -- > but the point here is that it is about the specific > surroundings > (Virgo vs Pisces) that brings that facet of the two > friends to fore. > Without the surroundings, they may be in another > bhava=rashi and > behaving very differently, expressing very > differently! > > Thanks for bringing to our focus a very important > factor!
