Guest guest
Dear Vyas If you get hold of a good Indian Panchanga, you will be able to get your answeres to length of Titihis, and the Sun's duration. alternate email is raichurar:Location Bombay India Parantap Jaiminikumar Vyas <parantapkumar vedic astrology Saturday, October 13, 2007 1:33:47 PM [vedic astrology] Dharma Sindhu Hi All, I am new. Interested in discussing Dharma Shastra and Calculations. I have some questions unanswered. 1.What is the minimum time span of a Tithi? (I mean when Tithi starts, from that point, how many Ghati-Pals can a Tithi exist? (Minimum) I want a point of Ghati-Pal that is the limit of minimum time limit of Tithi; Tithi should longer than that Point. 2.Similarly, what is the maximum time span of a Tithi? 3.Which is the minimum time span between Two Sunrises? Counting Ghatipals from the starting of one Suryoday to next Suryoday, Which can be the minimum time Span. The distance between 2 Sunrises must be longer than that point of Ghati Pal. Which is the maximum time span between two Sunrises? 4.There are two kinds of Tithis according to Dharma Sindhu. 1.Poorna 2. Sakhanda right? So in which of above two categories of Tithi, we can put Kshaya Tithi and Vruddhi Tithi? 5.According to Dharma Sindhu, 2nd type of Tithi, Sakhanda has two sub-types. 1.Shuddha 2. Viddha There are two kinds of Vedhas. 1. Pratarvedha 2. Sayamvedha Now my question is Do all Viddha Tithis must have minimum one of above two Vedhas? ______________________________\ ____ Take the Internet to Go: Go puts the Internet in your pocket: mail, news, photos & more. http://mobile./go?refer=1GNXIC

Guest guest
Namaste, The tithi is the time in which the moon increases its distance from the sun round the circle by twelve degrees. As the motions of the sun and the moon vary periodically, therefore a tithi is also of variable length ( ranging, according to the Hindu calculations, from 21 hrs. 34 min. 24 sec. to 26 hrs. 6 min. 24 sec). It may, therefore, be either shorter or longer than a vedic day(24 HRS.APPROX.). A tithi may end at any moment during the vedic day; and ordinarily the tithis which starts after 8.00pm on any day would be construed as the tithi for the next vedic day. In the olden days the mukurtha events are denoted by Sukla/Krishna tithi in addition to nameing of lunar / solar month and the years named after king's reign years of a kingdom.Nowdays we are employing it in elective astrology.Further we also use them to denote janana-marana kaalam for the purpose of various rituals. Any thing beyond the above is outside my understandings.I request more efflorescent Astro-Chintamanies to throw light on tithi. Guest guest
Hello, 1. There are two kinds of Tithis according to Dharma Sindhu. 1.Poorna 2. Sakhanda. Now my question is in which of above two categories of Tithi, we can put Kshaya Tithi and Vruddhi Tithi? 2. According to Dharma Sindhu, 2nd type of Tithi, Sakhanda has two sub-types. 1.Shuddha 2. Viddha There are two kinds of Vedhas. 1. Pratarvedha 2. Sayamvedha Now my question is Do all Viddha Tithis must have minimum one of above two Vedhas? I mean is it possible that Viddha Tithi may be without Pratar Vedha or Sayamvedha? So can we make 3 kinds of Viddha Tithi? 1. Pratar Viddha 2. Sayam Viddha 3. Keval Viddha - Is this 3rd Keval Viddha (Only Viddha - It is Viddha Because not within the Critarea of Shuddha, but neither having Pratarvedha nor Sayamvedha)Correct? (Note: Viddha Tithi is One that is Not Shuddha)
