Hi Mukund,

It's been a long time since I have returned to this forum. I

sincerely thank you for your advise and understanding the plight of

the under privileged and also of those who have to witness this.

I have been donating to orphanages and sponsoring education for the

poor girls, I will certainly donate to NGO for helping rescue those

poor helpless girls from brothel houses.

Thanks for providing direction.

I will also request the members of this forum to suggest some

poojas /mantras/ havan/homas that we all can participate in or

individually that is appropriate for a cause like this. Please

suggest. And for those of us who can help with financial aid , please

do so by donating to such organizations, as the poor and the troubled

children/women of our country and society need both ;our sincere

prayers and monetary help to rescue them.

The basic assumptions underlying worldly reality are the following:

Desire leads to action (karma) and over a series of lifetimes a state

of equilibrium is reached. This is the basic substrate on which the

edifice (university/temple??) of astrology is built.

While it explains to some extent and brings sense back into chaotic

patterns for the 'individual', perhaps the assumption is larger and

more complex and involves larger *conglomerate-units* of incarnated

facets of the universal soul. There could be familial karma, communal

karma, national karma and global karma. This is not a new concept or

for that matter overly fantastic either. Similarity of astrological

patterns in a family, for instance, and similarity of experiences as

well as genetic similarities are all hints that such a correlation

may not be far-fetched.

There is nothing wrong in thinking about oneself, even when praying

for instance. What is wrong perhaps is to get stuck in that mode,

that mindset. A lifetime is not judged by how many wrongs one has

committed and successfully reversed or made amends for, but perhaps

just a ledger-like sum total of positive and negative actions.

Perhaps God is just interested in the bottom-line and not each item

in the ledger. I have seen a few individuals who have been known at

the same time as very malefic and very benefic by different groups of

people. Some of these individuals have indeed done bad things and

taken advantage of some people, but have also benefitted others and

overall felt good and were successful. I realize that one can argue

that they had done good karmas earlier births and so on. I did say it

was complex and not simple.

The way to manage this karma ledger is to start a journal. Each day

before going to bed (before sleep wipes some of the memories or

changes ones perspective (!) go over what you have done and

experienced during the day. Without going over obsessive, think of

the good and bad deeds you did or any significantly prominent good or

bad thought as well. Give yourself a score, a -1 if you had done more

bad, a 0 if you were in balance and a +1 if you were overall more

good than bad. On rare days, you may give yourself a -2 or +2 but do

not cheat! Be brutally honest. When in doubt about a certain action,

give yourself the best guess score but also write a note to yourself

in the journal about the nature of the indeterminate action or

thought which causes confusion in mind. Similarly, you may want to

write a note about the actions etc on the -2 and +2 days.

After about a year, add up the total and the best day to do this is

on your birthday. If you were more bad in the year, then donate your

blood more than once during the year (figure out a scoring system

that works for you and is below the maximum number of times you can

donate blood! Ask your doctor or blood bank). If you had been in

balance (lucky you!) or even in a positive state, at least donate

blood once a year, maybe on your birthday or another special occasion.

You will find that by doing this simple routine, you will begin to

feel better and if god wishes you will begin to feel luckier as well.

For those who cannot donate blood for one or other reason, there are

other options available. Please consult your spiritual advisor, or

jyotishi etc about those.

Regards,
