Or, if one receives a manthra from a Guru for the purpose of chanting and getting the grace of Guru & eventually grace of God, then one should not only be thankful to Guru, but also be respectful. However, it sounds strange to me when I read your mail that one borrowed manthras from Sri Narasimha. Manthras are not someone's property. Or, manthra is not a quotation said by someone. You can also say 'Om Guravenamah' and I can also say the same thing, or anyone can say the same thing. You can also say 'Om Namah Sivaaya' and I can also say the same thing. For any manthra you chant for yourself, how do you express your gratitude to several thousands (if not millions) of people who chanted that manthra before you? It does not make any sense. Sorry to say this; but your mail is very strange in this context. Your mail gives undue importance to someone, where the same person certainly deserves respect for his knowledge-sharing attitude, which is a different matter and not relatd to this context. Earlier, i was not aware of this fact, when this sunday i also got same set of PVR's lectures on line, I understoosd the whole scene. But, mr. sushil, who has no authority on mantra's, developed a sharp skill to collect material from the net and to present himself as so called guru. He should first be a good shishya and to attain at some spirituality, then there is no problem. I objected this attitude only. I m fully aware that mantra's not one's property, they are discovered by sages and all rights reserved with god only and if god grants then with that sage only. but this attitude of imitating a guru is very dangerous for the society, such gurus have done more harm then good to the society however, they are so clever in self advertisement they get huge popularity initially. Our Shastras say that " Mananaat Traayate iti Mantra " --meaning one that controls & pacifies our mind is a mantra. This has to be kept in mind while doing the mantra jap or reciting. All word related to God whether " Om " " Amen " or " Amin " display divinity because they are in reference to the Almighty. Although some do not seem that way when they are made ;-) But seriously, I think most would agree that an infant newly born is perhaps closer to divinity or divine state than some of us worldly PAPIs! And if that is true and acceptable to this august readership (the infant part, not the PAPI part!) then the first word uttered by the infant must be closer to the divine sound or divine realm. In most cases it is a variation of MA! As Bhaskar ji has indicated in a message recently this is an important sound and very divine most would agree! Sometimes jyotishis and mantric/tantric/sanskrit scholars get so carried away that the obvious remains ignored!
