Stotras and Mantras as remedies

Dear all,

I was born in a spirituality-oriented family, and from childhood used to

chant a variety of stotras like Gayatri mantra,

Maha mrityumjaya mantra, Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra, Lalita Sahasranama

Stotra, Saundarya Lahari, Aditya Hridayam, Kanaka dhaara stotram,

Annapoorna Stotram, Indrakshi Stotram, Margabandhu stotram, Shiva

maanasa pooja...

What started off as something I had to do due to pressure from parents,

soon became a source of pleasure as the power, splendour and strength of

the God's names impressed themselves on me. Some of them like the Vishnu

Sahasranama stotra were with me from early childhood so almost I

consider them as bosom friends. I have never much looked at them as

remedies to specific mental/astral/physical problems and only recently

became interested in such. I am learning a few things by going through

the responses given to queries from various people. Nevertheless I would

like to know more about specific ailments to which these prayers are

considered as remedies. The world is full of wonderful things...there's

a Tamil saying " Kattrathu Kai Mannalavu, Kallathathu Ulagalavu " -

meaning - what we know is just enough to fill in our palms, What we do

not know could envelop the whole world! My deep respects to the

well-intentioned Jyothishis of this group.

With regards,

Hari

Dear Shri Hari,

If You are reciting these Mantras with knowledge

of the meanings then the application would be known,

with this knowledge, automatically.

For eg. In Vishnu Sahasranaam you have a Line

which says " Dukh swapna nashana " and

" Veerya rakshan " ( Not read for last 5-7 years

so do not remember exactly.) which means Bad

dreams would be removed, would save the Vital

force etcetra. But of course this is not the

only result of reciting thiese 1000 Names of

the Lord.

In GopalaSahasranaam too,in the ending , you

have the advantages mentioned,of reciting the

Stotras.

In almost all Stotras the advantages are mentioned

in the end of the Stotra including the Aditya hrdyam

Stotra., including the Hanuman Chalisa.

Therefore one does not need a astrologer to advise

on these.

The person normally starts these Stotras as remedies

to his problems, but then develops so much love with

these, that he keeps on continuing these for Life,

like you have done.

Now when I too take Gods name or read some Stotra

I do not consider it as remedial measures, but just

do it cause I love doing it.

I like the positive note of your mail.

God bless You.

regards,

Bhaskar.
