By expressing your regret and acknowledging your weakness in this area of anger, you are half way their to correcting your original bad doing. To nullify your mistake, do a good deed, show some compassion and love to someone, help someone out, smile. This reveals that we cannot judge anyone as good or bad. It is the circumstances which force one to behave as they do. I also wrote back- " We all commit mistakes and none of us is a saint. I have personally used bad language millions of times in the past and with no promise that I may not do so in future. But of course I am trying to learn when to avoid it. It is a slow process and may take years to accomplish..I am sorry about the reference I made to the Ramayana about You. I pray all beings can deal with their anger and use it positively. Anger is important and its a good thing to have. We all need to use our anger in positive ways. I myself is a very angry person (I have sun and mars in Aries) but who tries to use it in positive way to achieve my goals in life. May all beings be blessed. Recognition of anger in ourselves and in others! Either way, we are enabled to distance ourselves from this Maya! Anger arises when something that we feel is ours and what we worked towards or earned rights to -- gets taken away! Anger arises when ownership (at some level) gets challenged. The feeling of injustice and being deprived of rightful ownership and due recognition etc arises and is deeply rooted in the feeling and acceptance of the mindset that THIS is the only lifetime that we get and there was no " yesterday " and no 'tomorrow'. Hinduism and perhaps other religions too imply, indicate, promise and affirm that this is not the case and there is a tomorrow! Once that is truely believed and accepted, anxiety diminishes and so does anger! I read once somewhere: Those who were angry fathers end up being kind and nurturing grandfathers! If forced to take a back seat, for instance in the case of a child in an abusive situation -- then the world witnesses yet another John Wayne Gayce! And there are many other fearsome examples in this world of ours! The world punishes those individuals but the socio-psychological possibility remains that they did not bring it upon themselves since they were innocent children born in abusive families! But then comes the third dimension of Karma and rebirth which makes the observer wonder if all of this was not orchestrated because of prior sins and so on. Which is what I too say, that keep it back seat-Silent Mode, unless one needs it for a righteous war like Arjun in Mahabharat war. If a warrior cannot arouse anger, then he cannot fight. Like Shivaji Maharaj,against the Mohemmadan Invaders, even like Gandhiji who fought a war with the British, but his mode of expression of anger was a non-violent one, though the anger was very much present. We normal people also have to play all sorts of roles in our daily Lives, at times anger is needed to get things done in Muncipal Offices, at hundreds of places, even at resturants where the waiter does not do his job properly, even to the Travel agent when he books a wrong ticket, even at family members when indiscoipline persists. The whole play is how to harness the anger when not required, and how to let it loose when occasion demands it. Good thought . At times one wonders, that when his mortal case would collapse and he would enter the space with better awakening intution of the soul, then would he realise that all this drama was already set before hand ? And was he to play the part which he just finished playing, as a mere spectator and a observer who could not have made much difference to the story of the whole drama he was a part of ? But these are musings of another kind perhaps not meant for this Forum. Another thought - Without passion, without aggression, without the play of Mars, one cannot even set forth to have a physical union and father a child.............. Without anger of helplessness against ones bad habits, one cannot force himself to turn a better person and fight against his addictions which he knows are bad. Without anger at ones situation where money is less at home, and wants are more, and he is unable to earn more, he would not be able to search for more options to get out of the economical quandary.
