Guest guest
Dear Anuj, why should we try and get Astrology labled as Science? Science , after all. is a branch of subject that is to be known. It is a subject like social studies or some such. Similarly astrology is also a subject, that is to be known. Why should we try to get a certificate from people by trying to present it as Science? Are we trying to present maths as science? Art as science? History as science? May be the controversy has its roots in the lating phrase Asto+Logos= science of stars. Sanskrit term for the same is Jyotish +Shashtra. I request you to enlighten me on the meaning of the word SHASHTRA in this context. Be blessed Dada Rohiniranjan <rohini_ranjan wrote: jyotish-vani/message/1046 Sorry for cross-posting! Guest guest
Dear Dada, As has been publicly stated by me several times, I am perfectly happy not labelling Astrology as Science, in fact even mainstream science is gradually moving towards the bigger tent: KNOWLEDGE! Shastra to me implies a body of codified, organized and connected threads of information/knowledge/techniques/methods that are transferable and hence " technical " and which have an applied aspect to it. One may say that I am describing jyotish. However, Jyotish is more than that, it is the ticket to the Grand Opera, but not Opera itself! But as you know my understanding is limited and I just enjoy this sweet somewhat silly dessert known as Jyotish Paayesh!
