many people wonder as to why king rama suffered various hardships

like fourteen years of secluded life in jungles (equivalent to life

imprisonment under present Indian law) and separation from wife and

children etc. several astrologers tried to cast king rama's chart

based on the descriptions given in valmiki Ramayana and find out

astrological reasons for his troubles but astrologically his chart is

the best one could imagine.

The only reason for the sufferings of king rama or lord rama in human

form (a reincarnation of lord Vishnu) is due to the curse received by

lord Vishnu from pativratas (chaste women) for outraging their

modesties by deceit.

once upon a time brihaspati (jupiter) and indra (king of devatas)

visited kailasha to meet lord shiva and to test them, shiva appeared

in the form of a digambara and not realizing it, indra tries to kill

him with his thunderbolt due to which lord shiva gets furiated and

releases fire from his third eye. realizing the anger of lord shiva,

jupiter makes indra fall at the feet of shiva and prays to lord shiva

to shower mercy and spare indra after which lord shiva lets the fire

released from his third eye thrown into the salt ocean (lavanambodhi)

and this fire that has fallen into this ocean takes the form of a boy

called jalandhara. since jupiter helped indra get his life back,

lord shiva grants the name of jeeva (enlivener) to jupiter. later

realizing the strength of jalandhara, brahma blesses him to become

the emperor of asuras and asks sukra (venus) to coronate and later

performs jalandhara's marriage with vrinda, the daughter of

kalanemi. seeing the headless rahu, jalandhara finds out the reason

for rahu's headlessness and decides to fight with vishnu. in the

battle, sukra used to bring back the dead asuras to life with his

mritasanjivini vidya and jupiter used to bring back the dead devatas

to life with rarest herbs found only in drona mountain. knowing

this, jalandhara uproots the drona mountain and throws into the

ocean. (drona mountain is now in the almora district of kumaon).

jalandhara fights battle with vishnu and make vishnu and his family

live in jalandhara's house and conquers all the three worlds. vishnu

could not win the battle since jalandhara is born out of lord shiva.

then sage narada hatches a plot and tells jalandhara to go and get

parvati who is the most beautiful woman in the world. narada also

tells that once even brahma fell to the beauty of parvati but was

cursed by siva which was a different story. then jalandhara goes to

manasasarovar and find parvati who gets vanished after spotted by

jalandhara and asks Vishnu to outrage the modesty of jalandhara's

wife saying that as long as his wife is chaste, due to her power,

jalandha cannot be killed even by shiva. jalandhara becomes busy in

kailasa to get paravati and fight lord shiva.

vishnu cast (maya) a bad dream for vrinda, the wife of jalandhara

after which vrinda goes into the forest and find two monsters fleeing

from which she approaches a brahmin who kills these monsters with a

mere sound. then vrinda asks this brahmin to let her know the status

of jalandhara who had gone to fight shiva and this brahmin lets two

monkeys bring the deadbody of jalandhar in front. vrinda falls at

the feet of this brahmin and prays to him to bring back jalandhara to

life and lo, jalandhara (vishnu in disguise) wakes up and embraces

vrinda and have sex only after which she realizes that it was vishnu

and not jalandhara and curses vishnu to take a human shape and then

his wife would be distracted by two rakshasas, the same two monsters

who made vrinda to approach this deceitful brahmin. like this

brahmin, a demon in disguise as a brahmin approaches your wife and

abducts her. like me, you would also search for your wife in

jungles. since you used monkeys to bring a false deadbody of my

husband, you would not find your wife without taking the help of real

monkeys. after giving these curses, the chaste vrinda enters into a

fire and attains salvation.

from the above, it is clear that vishnu took a human shape only due

to the curse of vrinda and his search in jungles, deceit by the

rakshasas, his wife taken away by another person, taking the help of

monkeys is all due to the curse of vrinda, a pativrata. these

stories also highlight the power of a chaste woman by signifying that

even if the husband of a chaste woman is bad, he would become

invincible due to the power of his wife.

since these stories find mention in various puranas, astrologers who

prepared the chart of rama based on the details given in valmiki

ramayana, may find out how these curses are reflected in his chart.

dear friend

vedic astrology has mixed roots of hindu mythology and astronomy.

rahu and ketu are the split up two portions of one demon who

deceitfuly drank amrut (holy nectar) and hence got the status of

planets and not real physical planets as such. for description they

are like a snake with both forming the head and tail respectively.

whenever a horoscope has all the seven planets (sun, moon, mars,

mercury, jupiter, venus and saturn) hemmed between rahu and ketu this

way or that way it is called a half blind chart. since all the

planets are one side of the serpent, mythologically the serpent can

negatively influence all the seven planets thereby precluding the

good planets from giving their good results and causes delays and

frustrations in the natives. in a half blind chart, if someone says

that a snake can turn only one side and not the other side, it is his

own inference.

to get rid of this half blind chart which is also called kalasarpa

dosham or kalasarpa yoga, i recommend worshipping planet sun and

strengthen the sun for which wearing the 12mukh rudraksha is the best

remedy. those who cannot afford buying this remedy can recite

gayatri mantra, aditya hridayam, give arghyam to lord sun daily and

also worship and recite mantras for lord shiva.

And the moon, if I may have a word here on this thread!

KSY (rahu in its retrograde motion eating all the planets;

Particularly the parents the luminaries) will manifest through a

major challenge for the parents of such a nativity. The sad

observation in many cases is that the KSY nativities realize the

problem when they become parents and sometimes, even not then!

That seems to have been the consistent observation and several others

too...

dear RRji

sun is the soul, atman or the life giving force of all sentient

beings in this planet and to all planets in the solar system. moon

is the mind and many astro classics mention sun and moon as father

and mother of the native's horoscope and also refer them as two eyes

etc.

but many astrologers also infer that moon is reflective of sun.

few scientific bent astrologers also opined that each and everything

that happens in the world is due to developments within the sun and

by the sun.

the remedy of worshipping shiva along with sun was given in reference

to moon as shiva is called chandrasekhar and moon himself worshipped

shiva who granted the boon of a fortnight waxing and fortnight waning.

as regards realisation by the natives with ksy, with darkness

prevailing over light, the mind and soul does not receive light which

is why things happen with a delay and cause frustrations. without

any astrological reference, a person with ksy can negate the negative

results of the ksy if he does pranayama, gain equilibirium of mind

and be content in life so that the dark nodes will fail in casting

any negative affect.

PanditArjunji,

KSY is indeed a shortcut assumption of an affliction, with its roots

in the half blind configuration and of course the wider paap katari

yoga (with all planets hemmed in between Rahu and Ketu).

A half blind chart on the surface indicates an over-intensity in one

half and under involvement in the other half of the chart.

Although I have some understanding of the challenges this may

present, I would be interested in learning of your views.

Why is it especially important to attempt to pacify a half-blind

chart?

Thanks,

Maniv

dear friend

you said it rightly. when the halfblind chart poses overintensity in

half bhavas and no involvement in the other half bhavas, it is like

you are having a house with 12 rooms where there is light only in six

rooms on oneside and the otherside six rooms or dark.

we have already discussed this subject threadbare with various

logics, rationales and reasonings for the negative results of ksy few

years earlier in this group but to speak freshly i can only say that

the half blind chart in itself is not negative and only needs

strengthening and improve on some areas of life. hope you read my

other mail in this thread which signifies on luminaries sun and

moon. ksy natives can benefit by meditation and control over mind

other than doing remedies.

with best wishes and blessings

Dear Friends,

Kala Sarpagayoga continues to haunt many jotishs as well layman only when the

lagna chart gives a starnge presentation with nodes becoming prominent than

luminaries.

interestingly in the vimshottari dasa system both sun and moon contribute for

for 16 years of dasa.where as nodes have combined strength contributing for 23

years of combined dasas of all planets.

Right or wrong we have already reflected that roles of rahu and ketu as nodes

have not been given prominence in the planetary system.we are ofcourse sure to

believe that these planets as shadow planets are evil nature if not in mind.

Then individual charts when analysed have mixed bag of results with this

KSY.Further analysis made to probe have given many names depending on their

positions and occupations.

Infact consistent and knowledgeable jyotishis have not given much prominence

to this yoga. There are others yet who would like to seize the opportunity and

emphsise the likely bad effects.

In essence how ever based on the sign(chara, sthira and dwiswabhava) the

effects likely to be given by Rahu and Ketu will be witnessed for rise or static

nature of life.one can also deny the kind of ascendant rising at the time of

birth based on time.so when we consider and justify the effect of KSY(position

of rahu and ketu dependant yoga). If fiery signs like Aries,Leo and sagittarus

get involved in KSY will be different from watery signs like cancer, scorpio and

pisces.Again lordships of these signs and houses do matter for all of us.But

then the tripod namely 1,5 and 9 houses in this need to be seen and explored

irrespective of what ever name we assign as KAY or KSY and son on so forth.

Last but not least the asterisms like aswani,(ketu)aridra(rahu)

makha, swati, moola and satabhisha depending on moons positions give rise to dasas

of rahu and ketu that form part invariably of kalasarpa yoga.

when a native with this yoga approaches it is quite incidental and we need ty

emphasis on other aspect than to deal exclusively for the prominence of yoga.

ofcourse various views do prevail in analysing the KSY and ultimately we have

to reconcile to the fact that each native carries with him bahgya as per his

birth. why not we analyse from the point of view what this bhagya is meant for

any native including the one carrying kalasarpayoga?

dear friend

you said it rightly. when the halfblind chart poses overintensity in

half bhavas and no involvement in the other half bhavas, it is like

you are having a house with 12 rooms where there is light only in six

rooms on oneside and the otherside six rooms or dark.

we have already discussed this subject threadbare with various

logics, rationales and reasonings for the negative results of ksy few

years earlier in this group but to speak freshly i can only say that

the half blind chart in itself is not negative and only needs

strengthening and improve on some areas of life. hope you read my

other mail in this thread which signifies on luminaries sun and

moon. ksy natives can benefit by meditation and control over mind

other than doing remedies.

Sir,

// In essence how ever based on the sign(chara,s

thira and dwiswabhava) the effects likely to be given

by Rahu and Ketu will be witnessed for rise or static

nature of life//

I whole heartedly agree with you.

Shani sadesathi as well as kala Sarpa

Yoga are both commonly understood to

be always evil , dreadful and feared,

whereas in reality, this may not be the

case in all the charts one encounters

with Shani sadesathi or kalasarpa Yoga.

At times the same Rahu whio is forming

kalasarpa Yoga may prove to be the trigger

of Bhagyoday or riches, when it gets the

power as mahadasha or antardasha Lord.

kind regards,

Bhaskar.

Dear Sirs,

I have seen many astrologers jumping

into conclusions and inventing various

kinds of KSY. To the best my

undrestanding these few thumb rules

may just shed some light for to remove

any confusion. Please correct me if I

have gone wrong somewhere.

1. All palnets must be hemmed in

between Rahu and Ketu without any

other planet including Ascendant

joining either of them.

2. All planets must be between Rahu-

Ketu and not Ket-Rahu. To make it

simpler we have first understand that

the motion of Rahu, Ketu is always

retrograde.

3. Imagine Rahu as the head of Sarpa

or serpent and Ketu as the tail of the

serpent. kala means time. so in the

natal horoscope in the course of time

Rahu starts gobbling up all planets by

virtue of it retrograde motion and NOT

Ketu ; so that tey endup in the belly

of the sarpa in the course of time.

4. Ofcourse amsika KSY can be seen

when degree of position of Rahu is

higher than that of Ascenndant or

anyother planet joining it in a house

as by it's retrograde motion the

planet has to enter the mouth of the

serpent.

Ranjan

Pandit Arjun Ji

I know the story of Jalandhar and Vrindaa, and that Vishnu cheated

Vrindaa and Vrindaa cursed Vishnu to become a black stone - so Vishnu

became Shaalgraam, but Vishnu bestowed her with a boon to be Tulasee

and keep her with Him always. But I never read the story of his

birth? Where did you read the story of his birth like this? How come

that being born from Shiv's anger he became Asur? And was Vrindaa the

daughter of Kaalnemi?

Thanks

With regards

Sushma

I know the story of Jalandhar and Vrindaa, and that Vishnu cheated

Vrindaa and Vrindaa cursed Vishnu to become a black stone - so Vishnu

became Shaalgraam, but Vishnu bestowed her with a boon to be Tulasee

and keep her with Him always. But I never read the story of his

birth? Where did you read the story of his birth like this? How come

that being born from Shiv's anger he became Asur? And was Vrindaa the

daughter of Kaalnemi?

Thanks

With regards
