Guest guest
Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) and Remedies Messages In This Digest 7. Why does Astrology work? Posted by: " Rohiniranjan " rohini_ranjan rohinicrystal Tue Nov 11, 2008 4:44 pm (PST) The empiricists who believe in the direct evidence of " proof of the pudding is in the eating " which the modern Varahamihira of Jyotish, Late Prof. Raman used to quote frequently, may respond simply, " Because it just does...! " I realize that this is a very practical forum and focused on techniques and deliverables and readings and explanations thereof but like a cat I keep introducing my paw from under the sofa! Craving your indulgence, gentle folks! Those who have observed a kitten would know that it spends a lot of time in its imaginary game of hunting and stalking and pouncing and the way it plays hide and seek. Games that cats play may actually be survival tactics in its wild cousin: the tiger! The domestic cat when it stays hidden under a sofa can sense the urgent note in its caregiver's voice who is calling to find out where the pet is. The cat would just extend and stick out its paw to show where it is, quietly -- a pause from the drama that it is participating in with its hunting and stalking pastime. Similarly, treat these somewhat esoteric musings which to the pragmatist may sound like too philosophical and even meaningless, but I feel that we are more than technicians and at least some of us would need to sit back and put some thinking into what really connects these techniques and interpolations between the heavens and heavenly bodies out there and we all down here. Sceptics very quickly jump on there being no strong physical energy connections but maybe we all need to think and then look beyond the physical energies and connections. Even scientists are beginning to very gradually accept a lot of what would have been considered superstition in their coffee- breaks only a few years ago! So what is it that keeps astrology's engine humming and purring happily? In your opinion and observations? Rohiniranjan Dear Rohiniranjan: I think this question will always keep coming up until we understand COMPLETELY, exactly why astrology truly does work! It is no different a question really then why do atoms work they way they do? Today, especially since we're in the middle of such a profound scientific age where we've developed such great models for understanding every fabric of the universe; we should be able to ask this question again, and again and find a deeply satisfying answer! For me, having studied Jyotish for over 22 years I can say most definitely that Astrology reall does work! I've done over 5,000 charts and each person so perfectly fits their charts! In every way in which our charts fit us; this is a serious confirmation that the rules and laws of Astrology are really real! I now KNOW that the universe is astrological. " We are astrological beings, living in an astrological universe! " Astrology can also be verified at any level, too. Take the Moon for example. It represents how we feel, how emotionally stable or unhappy or happy we are. The size, house and aspects to the Moon all express exactly where a person will be like emotionally from their birth. Astrology, really, is no different than the modern science of Genetics which seeks to understand the inherent DNA that we're each coming into this world with. Genetics is seeking to unravel the DNA code just so we can figure out exactly why some people are strong emotionally and others not so much! But, the real purpose will be what can we do to strengthen those aspects of our DNA which are not strong, balanced or healthy? Genetics is pure Astrology! The profundity of Astrology however, lies in its ancient wisdom. Especially Jyotish which is intimately connected to all the remedial and remedies of Vedic knowledge including yoga, meditation, yaguas, Ayurveda and on and on; gives us the tools and techniques of self-development to change and improve, literally unfolding our greater full potential. Astrology needs to move into a scientifc mode and the more we as professionals stand up for this and make it more clear that Astrology is verifiable then Astrology will be looked at more seriously. There are however, some other serious faults in the field of Astrology which are keeping serious minded, especially physicists to unravel exactly why Astrology works. My take on it, is that it probably lies in the unified field or sub-atomic level that the realities, of Jyotish or Astrology reside. When one studies the Transits for example, which are out there, in nature, the weather even, how each day feels is a direct correlation between what the transiting stars are supposed to be doing. Yesterday, for example, the Moon was very big and moving towards it's Full Moon status. Normally, this would be a very happy and profound Moonish or emotioanl moment. However, this month and year, the all-important Sun was debilitated and in fact transiting the exact degree in Libra (25) from where Saturn was fully aspecting from the 25th degree of Leo. Jyotish, has one of its rules or we might start calling them 'laws' that Saturn is supposed to influence the 3rd house from where it is. Every month the Moon and sometimes like now, even other planets move into that space which is that 3rd House away rule. Therefore the prediction, even scientific prediction turned out true! Each moment of the Transits shows that the universe is living Astrology! In such days our every day experiences show us that these ideas and opinions of Astrology are not fanciful or imagination but true, real and extremely profound. Let's take some examples. Let's see if people in this group can contribute to a short study and verification of the Moon, as one example. I'd love to hear from people how their Moon configurations are indeed fitting them in a precise, verifiable and even scientific emotional way! I'll start! When I was born, (Sept. 4,1951 11:17AM Kansas City, MO. US Libra Jyotish rising) my Moon was only 3 days away from the Sun or a New Moon. My Moon, (26th degree in Virgo) was very close to my Sun (18th degree) in Leo. My Moon, therefore, was very small and in the 12th House with Saturn. All of the traditonal and classic ideas of my chart fit me exactly! I was very shy when I was young. I was very self-conscious, emotionally unstable and weak in school as well as my personal life. I was therefore naturally drawn even without knowing astrology to find some ways of improving this Moon situation. Unfortunately, there were no good or powerful remedies in my early life; but when I went to college such things as meditation and yoga were very popular. I ended up trying these and immediately, even within a few weeks I started feeling better emotionally. Now, 38 years of meditation and 22 years of practicing Jyotish have improved my Moon so much I can't even recognize myself. I'm not that shy, overly sensitive, vulnerable person emotionally! Our charts do fit us. And, the more we each stand up for and show the world that this is true, there will be those who explain why the laws of nature work in this way. Though even scientists never are able to explain why God created the laws of nature in the way that He/She did! Astrology, still is a perfect bridge to explain both the subjective and objective aspects of life. Our Astrology fits us subjectively. Our charts explain why family members are the way they are and especially why their interactions are the way they are; positive and negative. But, Jyotish or Astrology's real purpose is to help us #1 Know who we are and #2 Why we've come to this Earth...and even #3 Exactly what we can do to take maximum advantage of our strengths (Benefices) and heal, balance and literally transform all our malefics, also into strengths! Guest guest
Dear Marc, Thank you for taking so much time to write your long response. It was a pity that for some reason the formatting came through in such a way that it was difficult to follow easily. However the bulk of your writing seemed to be addressing the question, " Does jyotish work? " . That was never the question or issue. We all know that already and even after a few years of sincere study that becomes very apparent. That is why people stay with jyotish as long as 22 years in your case and even longer in many other cases :-) That said, there was a somewhat confusing piece which I quote below: " Now, 38 years of meditation and 22 years of practicing Jyotish have > improved my Moon so much I can't even recognize myself. > > I'm > not that shy, overly sensitive, vulnerable person emotionally! > > Our charts do fit us. " I am sure you would notice the controversy in your presentation! On the one hand you are saying that people do fit their classical chart description but at the same time you are saying that people can change with remedies, yoga, meditation etc. By that what I am understanding is that people can change, despite what their classical chart descriptions indicate! A shy person's birthchart will not change but he or she can outgrow the shyness that would be the classical description for the chart! But thanks for trying to address the issue that is certainly not easy...!
