Guest guest
Dear Raja, It has been my experience in Jyotish that there is one common principle that safely applies. That being: Munday Munday Mati Bhinna. Whether it be sade sati or ayanamsha or kalachakra dasa (the proper way) or kalsarpa yoga or you name it! Actually this is great! Because it gives all a chance to not passively download from others but to actually burn the midnight oil and get some hands-on experience. I think it was Mr. KN Rao who once stated in one of the postings long ago that when he studied a new principle he would first apply it on his own chart or on a test bed of known charts to see if it worked or not. The advantage of this method is that one is more certain than, " He said, she said, they wrote... " . That said, GC Sharma indicated the following three situations for using ashtottari: " ...If rahu excepting in the ascendant (lagna) is posited in and angle (Kendra) or a trine (trikona) from the lord of ascendant (lagna lord), some learneds adopt Astottari dasa system " Later on in the notes he indicated, " There is unanimity on the fact that if the native is born in shukla paksha (brighter half of lunar course)the prediction should be done through vimshottari dasa and for the birth during krishna paksha astottari dasa system be employed) " In a later sloka (#23) in the same chapter, the translation was: " ...if the birth is in the day time during krishna paksha or in the night in shukla paksha and in order to ascertain specific results, astottari dasa be adopted " Please draw your own conclusions. RR , " Raja " <desi.raja wrote: > > I am curious about dashas. i.e.. vimsottari dasha and ashtotari > dasha... can anyone comment on when to use which dasa and what is the > difference and any other insights for beginner please.... > > thanks in advance. > raja >
