Guest guest
Dear Puneet, It is very good that you are trying to learn Astrology. Astrology is no better than learning a language. You have to start with the alphabets and slowely advance to construct words -> sentences -> paragraphs etc. There is NO SHORT CUT. Lal Kitab surely is not the book to start if you want to learn. It would be better if get yourself a copy of Parasara Hora or Brihad Hora (Varaha Mihira) or Saravaly (Very good for beginers as well as for advanced study). Always try to stick to the originals ie sanskrit with true translation. Let the knowledge come naturally from within and not the ideas fed by others though they might help to some extent. After you understand the basic you can look at Lal Kitab to do a comparative study. The common mistake a beginer does is to look for ready made yogas or effects of position of planets, nakshtras and trying to predict. It just isn't so unless you understand the foundation. The art of prediction lies not just in the no of yogas you know or know about inumerable no of dasa system or other complex system , BUT rather in how well you have understood the basic and simple principles and know where to use them, how to use them and where not to use them. Above all without patience nothing will be clear. Hope this helps you. Guest guest
Dear Puneet, These books are freely awailable with english translation or hindi translations. Atleast a few book shops in cities should have them. There are also a lot of online stores where you can order books. some of them even give you discount on purchaces of more than 1000/- and free shipping on more than 100/- You can search through google. If you are serious and do not like to waste money, always buy the book with original sanskrit verses and true translation. At first this will be greek to you. But aftertime you will realise you need to know the true words used in sanskrit. English particularly cannot fully imply the meanings of sanskrit language. More you try to explain, the meaning may get more twisted. and finaly don't think that the descriptions of planets & sign or their names are least important, Infact that is every thing. Guest guest
Dear Puneet, Here are few books you can try. 1) Fundamentals of Astrology by M.R.Bhat 2) Brihat Parasara Hora R.Santhanam (2 Vols)or 3) Brihat Parasara Hora By Girish Chandra Sharma (2 Vols) 4) Saravali by Muralidhar Chaturvedi 5) Brihad Jataka by Surya Narayana Rao. You can try flipcart.com to purchase these books. I also found a downloadable copy of Brihad Jataka by N.Chidambaram Iyer. Meanings & explanation of verses are in english. But Sanskrit verses are not provided. A very good book. I hope this helps you to start.
