" First house for profession " was extensively used by famous astrologer Shri J.N. Bhasin (See his book Art of Predictions). Initially I was not convinced, but later on found it quite correct. Though KP System doesn't follow divisional charts, but I personally found Dasamsa quite useful in predicting the profession. It would be great if somebody can do a study on the connection of 1st house vrs. 10th house for profession. We can get some important directions here. I didn't find the 10th cusp based professions listed in the book Profession by Shri K. Subramaniam useful. I don't use those at all. One should judiciously blend the significations of the sublord of the Ascendant,for status and prarabdha(destiny),level of Social Status etc...and those shown by the sublord of the Xth, and give special attention to the sub-sub-lord of the Xth,which will help one decide for definite...on the Profession...and the IV and/or IXth cusps for education...to increase the chances of a succesful prognostication...all these go into the profession a person chooses these days... If a person's prarabdha indicates a lowly status in life, how can one predict a high professional status,and vice-versa and so on,one should think...carefully,step by step... I also use the s/lords of the IInd and XIth ..for obvious reasons, as well as the DBA in progress and also those to follow...for a comprehensive analysis and then make up my mind and arrive at a well-considered opinion... You will need a good SW which will give cuspal and planetary positions upto the sub-sub level... If one predicts by using only the Xth, in isolation,one is likely to choose the wrong options among the many given in the book Profession,which I use extensively...
