Nevada (US), Aug.18 (ANI): " We Are All Hindus Now " -headlines the article in

the upcoming edition of prestigious newsmagazine " Newsweek " , saying " U..S. Views

on God and Life Are Turning Hindu " .

Written by its religion editor Lisa Miller, it says, " ...recent poll data

show that conceptually, at least, we are slowly becoming more like Hindus and

less like traditional Christians in the ways we think about God, our selves,

each other, and eternity. "

Commenting about the Newsweek viewpoint, Rajan Zed said that community was

gladthat rich philosophical thought of Hinduism was being recognized and

accepted widely outside the Hindu circles.

The article quotes a religion professor at Boston University who has long

framed the American propensity for " the divine-deli-cafeteria religion " as " very

much in the spirit of Hinduism... "

It further says: " So here is another way in which Americans are becoming more

Hindu: 24 percent of Americans say they believe in reincarnation, according to a

2008 Harris poll. So agnostic are we about the ultimate fates of our bodies that

we're burning them-like Hindus-after death. More than a third of Americans now

choose cremation, according to the Cremation Association of North America. "

The article ends with: So let us all say " AUM . " (ANI)

AUM not om

Pranava nada is Aakara, Ukaara, Maakara the three letters from A, U M are used

the result for them is sound may be proton, nutrons, electrons....

Pranava nadham means the first sound.

sound is the lowest form of energy

and Energy flows from the higher levels to the lower levels are what is said

either in Vedas or Thermo dynamics

dear friends

while this is an interesting observation, let me give an unbiased presentation

of the truth betold by one and all religions alike.

the supreme power which commands and runs the whole universe is referred as

allah by muslims. for them the god is nirakaar. in the most sacred pilgrimage

spot of muslims in the world, they do worship a rock and have a darshan of it

and few touch it with reverence but let us not discuss this beyond.

hindus too believe the same philosophy but have presented advaita for realised

souls and dvaita for the unrealised which are 99 percent of the population.

hence for hindus, god is nirakaar as well as take any shape right from the

highest level of trimurtis of brahma, vishnu, ishwar and other forms too.

in christianity too, according to old testament, there was a agni lingam or fire

god which was worshipped and jesus never claimed he is god. he always referred

him as son of god and implied that all are children of the same god and shall

respect the supreme god as the father of all. his later apostles conveyed that

a native can reach the father (god) only through his son namely jesus. the oft

references of holy trinity and the jesus getting reincarnation or coming back

few days after death confirms their acceptance of rebirth.

summarising the above, we all can easily practice the ageold adage " ekam sat,

vipraa bahudha vadanti " . god is same, but is called many by the learnt. hence

let us all live in mutual peace and respect in whatever name he is worshipped or

believed.

as regards cremation, albeit it is religious belief and way or practice to do

whichevery way of laying rest to a dead person, considering the following,

cremation is the best to ensure rest in peace.

as told by adisanakra, all beings on this earth come from earth and have to go

into earth only, in one form or another. so when a human dies, his body goes

again into dust (earth) either by getting buried or cremated. when a body is

buried, it gets decomposed, become a food for insects and decays slowly for

years or decades and even the skeletal remains last long to merge completely

into the earth. some western stories of zombies and the corpses coming back to

life are horror recipes. when a person is cremated, the body is laid to

complete rest instantly and even the ashes of the body are immersed in various

rivers so that all remains are merged into the earth completely. a person while

being alive occupies so much space that he unknowingly unseats various other

animals and birds for his or her comfortable living. after death, if the body

is cremated, he vacates some space for the nature or do not occupy further

space. but when a person is buried, it occupies further space and maintenance

which decision is best left to the bereaved.

having said the above, it is the discretion and wisdom of the natives to follow

whichever way of laying rest to the deceased.

with best wishes and blessings
