Strangely she had scored 80 % marks. Though traditionaly, it is not appropriate to read a dead person's chart, it helps us to study different attributes of planets how they function. I must admit the incident may not be known at a casual glance of the chart. She has Lagna in Taurus with Moon & Gulika (Kerala method). Gulika is Vargottama there. I have always held Gulika if Vargottama is not good. It just confirms the effect of sign it is positioned. Considering this Moon's position in exaltion sign just becomes irrelavent. what is relevant is both Lagna as Thanu & moon as deha & mind is afflicted. 8th house is having two malefics - Mars & saturn & Mars is Maraka sthanadhipathy. On a closer look saturn is 22nd drekanadhipathy. Lagna has navamsa in Leo with lagna navamsakadhipathy in neecha navamsa - So Atmakara is also weak. In effect Lagna, Moon & Sun are afflicted or weak. These are three factors I noticed, when I took a look at the chart - Gulika & 8th house. To top it the Day of Birth had Mrithyu yoga being Thursday & mrigasira Nakshatra. The death occured in Rahu-Venus-Mercury Rahu & Mercury are aspected by Saturn from the 8th - pls note 22nd drekanadhipathya of saturn who is along with Maraka Kuja. Mercury is also 2nd house lord another maraka though minor but association with Rahu and aspect of Saturn. saturn is also Rahu Rashyadhipathy. I am using traditional terms because they have immence significance here. on the day of birth, Venus is in Dinamrithyu sputa - a severe blemish used in Muhurtha which I have noted to casause severe damage in their respective periods. As per Kalachakra The death occurred during Makara-Kumbha signs dasa As per Yogini it occurred during Ulka-saturn-Ulka saturn's period. So you can see how saturn as 22nd drekana lord of Lagna played its part. The involvement of Rahu caused the death by hanging. However I suspect she must have thought of other avenues such as poison or by fall from a building - which we may be able to confirm. we could fish out other yogas also if awailable from scores of books. However, the first 2-3 conditions are worth noting as we could easily detect. The important factor is not just position of malefics but lagna+chandra+gulika HAD a Benefic aspect and surprising that Mars+saturn has aspect of Jupiter. Probably Venus being in 12th Vyaya sthana also triggered the death. It should also be noted 12th house is given a particular importance as far death is concerned in classical works. I read that if lagna lord and 8th lord posted in 6 or 12 leads to alpayu yoga . She has lagna lord venus with 8th lord jupiter posted in 12th. As I have already pointed out, we can find other yoga's that may have contributed to the incident. The problem with such yogas are that they may not satisfy the conditions provided or there could be arishta banga as well. The yoga means combination of factors and to be 100% effective, all the conditions given should be prevalent. If this is not the case, the yogas becomes weak (not that it may not work). Most important is that incidences such as death should be assessed by two or more conditions as it is the end of this life and very serious. At times some conditions become very prominent in the chart, but we always look for other factors as well for confirmation. I shall illustrate the yogas 1) if malefic lagna lord is placed in the 12th of moon OR is placed in the Sign of Moon's Navamsa OR is the lord of Moon's Navamsa sign, the child shall live only for 9 years. Here note the conditions a) Lagna lord should be Malefic (Sun, Saturn or Mars) b) Should be placed in the 12th of Moon or c) Should be placed in the Navamsa sign of Moon Ie if the navamsa of moon is Leo, the lagna lord should be placed in Leo IN THE RASI CHART. d) Should be lord of Moon's navamsa sign Ie: in the above Leo being Navamsa of moon, Lagna lord should be Sun – Leo lagna and placed in the 12th of Moon in the Rasi chart. (Lagna is leo, Moon's Navamsa in Leo, Sun in the 12th of moon). In our case Lagna lord is Venus – Benefic. So the primary condition itself fails. The only argument we can put forth is the 6th lordship of venus. But does it matter here?. Another yoga If the Lagna lord and 8th lords being malefic exchange signs and these signs are not occupied by benefics and Jupiter not occupying 6th or 12th, the native shall live for 18 years only 1) Lagna lord & 8th lord should be malefics – Strictly speaking this applies to only Karkata lagna & Makara lagna. 2) Both of them should exchange signs – parivathana 3) Benefic planets should not occupy those signs 4) Jupiter should not be in the 6th or 12th of Lagna In our case, Lagna lord is Venus – a benefic 8th lord is Jupiter – a benefic 12th is occupied by Jupiter Another Yoga – Arishta Bhanga If moon is occupying its exaltation or own sign and in the varga of friends or in the navamsa of Mercury and with full paksha bala and with or aspected by benefic planets and without malefic associations, that moon shall destroy all the Arishtas as Sun melts down the ice. Here the condition are A) moon should be in Taurus or Karkata B) & should have benefic vargas C) Or should be Gemini or kanya navamsa D) & should be associated with benefic E) & should not be associated with malefic F) & should have paksha bala In our case Moon is Taurus and navamsa in kanaya does not have malefic association does not have benefic association medium paksha bala. What it does is : it removes all other Arishta Yogas. So there has to Arishta Yogas in the first place. What are they?. This should be our effort. Since the Arishta Banga is present though not 100%, the partial existence must have been the reason why the native lived for 18 years after birth. I am compelled to point another indication as given in Jyotisharna Navanitham The malefic in the 8th shall NOT become inimical if the Jupiter or Venus in the Kendra. NB: In our case , Malefic planets Mars & Saturn are in the 8th and they are aspected by Jupiter also. The point is Jupiter & Venus are NOT in lagna Kendra nor they are aspecting it. So for Arishta Banga, even if malefics are in the 8th , Jupiter or venus should aspect lagna and little good is done even if they aspect the malefics in the 8th. This seems to be an important pointer here as the case proves. Another yoga If the 8th lord is placed in the 6th , 8th or 12th aspected by malefic planets in a malefic sign, the native shall have only short life. Even here the yoga does not fully qualify. It does partially as the 8th lord Jupiter is placed in the 12th and in a malefic sign – but without malefic aspect. NB: A more prominent indication is given as If the 2nd lord is with Rahu or Ketu in Dusthana (6th, 8th or 12th) , the person shall die by hanging. Here Mercury (2nd lord) is with Rahu (but not in dusthana). However, their depositor Saturn is placed in the 8th who also is the 22nd drekana lord. This yoga seems to be more applicable here. But note that though the yogas do not confirm 100%, it works in a different way. This is all the more reason to understand the basic principles than learning yogas by-heart and trying to apply them.
