Mrs. Early-Kutti! (SORRY FOR IRRELEVANT POSTING!)

She was one strict teacher, Mrs. Early-Kutti! Her daughter Mme. Cooper was a lot

kinder and way better a teacher! Cooper Mme, taught me in school, her mother

taught me at home! I was barely starting school!

 

In order to impress my parents, Early-Kutti forced me to write directly in

'running-hand' while most others first learned how to PRINT and then moved to

running script!

 

One day, her daughter was sick and Early-Kutti mataji showed up at school where

I was learning how to write in normal PRINTING mode!

 

She gave us a passage to write! Naturally, being a newbie at writing in UPPER

CASE, I thought I was supposed to WRITE that way like others! I could not finish

the passage in time :-(

 

Early-Kutti, my saturnine headmistress, had a bad habit of hitting the back of

the head when students did not listen! She hit me in the occipital bone and

muttered under her breath, full of cloves (she was addicted to cloves! Covering

her BAD BREATH, my guess would be!): " Why did you not write in running script as

I taught you, silly boy! " .

 

There was little ANT again, punished for just conforming and trying to belong to

the rest of the class!

 

But in HER overzealous attempt to impress my parents, her employers -- through

'showing-off' that she taught their child to write in script before mastering

PRINTING -- as other children did, she spoiled my handwriting completely! And,

yet, there were occasions when being aware of my 'shortcoming' I made extra

effort to write as clearly as I could. Mishra_jee my hindi/sanskrit teacher

about whom some of you know ;-) punished the entire class and I just happened to

make extra effort and was praised for my handwriting that day :-)

 

The occipital bone, I later learned, is the thickest part of the skull! The

sides of the skull are the thinnest and the worst place to hit a child! The

occipital part of the brain deals with seeing and processing vision! NOT THE

TANTRIC KIND! Just the normal kind that makes all of us see things as they

EXACTLY are!

 

Thank you MME. Early-Kutti! For saving my time back then! I hardly write now,

anyway -- JUST TYPE! And they seem to love it!!
