'Shekhchilly'.It is essential to learn firstly language and grammar for writing

perfect ayanamsa and rules relating to rectification of birth time.Because

different ayanamsas cause uncertainty while judging star lords,sub lords and sub

sub lords.Generally recorded birth time should not be changed for any

system.Things are not much changed if we adopt Lahiri or K.P ayanamsa.Even then

asc sub lord=Moon star lord or asc sub sub lord = Moon sub lord position is

changed if Lahiri or K.P ayanamsa is adopted & applied for recorded birth time

and necessity arises to add or subtract few seconds.The rule that asc sub

lord=Moon star lord  & asc sub sub lord =

Moon sub lord does apply in most of the cases for rectification of birth time

but it does not apply in all cases.Traditional rule Kunda kriya is still

doubtful in this regard.

I never said you belonged to any coterie! I tend not to judge people too

hastily, particularly when I know them or about them only through the polarized

filter of Internet. So, please do not have any such misgivings. In order to be a

good astrologer, one need not be a writer of books or articles or whatever, but

definitely some degree of 'vak shuddhi' must be striven for. Because after all,

jyotish is a language in which we translate the astrological sentence (pun not

intended!) into the matters that humans experience. How can we provide this

translation service unless we learn how to express ourselves clearly. I am

speaking in very general terms and not pointing at any Sheikh, etc -- primarily

due to lack of interest and also of time. :-)

 

If you read up a few of my writings which are freely available and have been

cited (archives) earlier -- and which I would rather not post again and again

lest I be blamed for tooting my horn -- you will find that I am of the live and

let live mentality. I refuse to believe that all the differnt values of

ayanamshas that have been proposed by people like Lahiri, Raman, KP, Devdutta,

Dabke and the umpteen others were not derived from 'Phenkology' but after

careful observations and results based on astrology. While the quest for the

Holy Grail of the so called " perfect ayanamsha " , never seems to end with new

contenders still popping up and being tweaked and the " my way or the highway! "

mentality prevails in some of the Jyotishis, there are a few factors

responsible:

 

a) In jyotish, the cat can be skinned in many different ways. In the same chart,

using even the same ayanamsha, five jyotishis would not give one explanation for

an event or trait. The approaches will result in more than one explanations. So,

there is a certain degree of overlap that exists. And if one includes different

approaches (Parashar based, jaimini based, KP, Systems, a few other lesser known

Kothris), then it is not difficult to imagine that there is perhaps not just one

road that leads to Rome, as the saying goes.

 

b) The dasa conundrum as some choose to call it! And I do not mean which main or

conditional dasa but also the dasa year! Savanmana or saurya or chandramana or

some other cyclical measure of time? There are many other factors that

interplay, interfere and confound the results.

 

c) Now people are even questioning the method of calculation of charts. There

are those who think that Suryasiddhanta calculations which often give different

longitudes from NASA routines are the best. Others think that parallax corrected

moon is the answer! PVR has recently described his Jagannath ayanamsha which

adds a yet another interesting dimension to the calculation of ayanamsha. I am

certain there would be other propositions too. While all these experts and

researchers are busy figuring out what is this perfect ayanamsha that you seem

to have set your mind and heart on (or you would not have called it so :-)) --

what is an ordinary jyotishi like me to do? Wait until the final votes come home

riding on the cows or do I make a beginning somewhere? And then carefully follow

the chosen parameters while keeping the mind and heart open for the possibility

that there could be other variations too, based on what was described in point

(a) above.

 

Rectification, similarly, is a path to be carefully treaded. I have seen many

astrologers who pretty much fooled themselves (and the client) in believing that

it is something that can be entered in armed with a few tables and techniques

and hit on the perfect answer. Every technique works brilliantly in jyotish, but

the acid test comes with the sour results after one applies the techniques in a

large number of cases. Then confusion begins or perhaps the quest for yet

another technique. Now the multiplicity of the technique tells me that the

'conditional' part (in which situation to apply which technique) is missing or

got garbled up as the scriptural knowledge got transferred and handed down the

generations of oral and written transmission. So here we are with a kitchen-full

of spices but no idea when to add this or that one in the dish we are cooking

(pun ABSOLUTELY not intended!!).

 

I hope the above helps a bit, if not, hopefully I was clear in my expression of

my thoughts! At least it showed to you that I care!
