It helps eliminate the defects and weakness and ensures harmonious ballencing between healthy functions of the body;sound sleep also offers the joy that one would experience by doing certain kinds of Yoga exercise.It is correct that an honest and dedicated worker serving God all day sleeps like a log on a bed made of stone .But sleeping on stone is not only sufficient.The period for sleep is also referred as ''mahanisha'' in the scriptures and is said to be the most suitable time for healthfull sleep.Probably mahanisha means sleeping  during 9PM to 3:30AM.All the body functions of a person who sleeps only during this specified period remain in good order and energized and also do all his other faculties.Even simple food works like ideal nutritious diet for such a person and he enjoys relishes a purposeful and vigorous life.
