planets exaltation, debilitation and combustion

Dear learned astrologers:

 

How to calculate % of exaltation, combustion etc.

 

It is said, moon at 3deg, jup at 5 deg and mars at 28 deg are either exalted or

debilitated in the particular signs.

 

I have moon 23 deg,  jup 24 deg both in debilitated signs and mars at 6deg in

exalted signs.

 

Does that mean that the first two are not real debilitations and the third not

real exaltation.

 

Also, about combustion, it says, 17, 13, 12, 9 and 15 deg from sun for mars,

merc, guru, sat and sun. How to calculate degree of combustion and what are the

bad effects?
