Because many people believe that someone else has the answers to the problems they are facing in their lives. These people are usually weak and have come to a point where they stop believing in themselves and the power they have over their own lives. They don't believe in themselves and their own abilities. It's sad. Please stop wasting your hard-earned money on astrology! I have spend enough of my money and I'm ready to stop. Every astrologer I have known and paid good money for readings have made false claims. They are all money-grubbing crooks that prey on desperate people. People tend to think of God/Goddess/Divine as something outside of us human beings, but perhaps in tune with the 'vargottama' YOKE between the macrocosmos and the microcosmos, through sacrifice we are making the connection between the two poles or reality tighter! What we give to the outside is somehow also received by the inside! The simple universal law of conservation of energy! When we begin dealing seriously with the Universe at that level and with intensity and sincerity, the simple Rose Quartz Crystal stands to become receptive and a willing carrier! Anyways... I also need your advise and guidance. some time ago at the advise of my mother I started to fast ( fruits and vegetables )on Tuesdays. I am not knowleagable or well read on Hindu spirituality, but growing up in a Brahman family it was what other people did and by association and habit I followed. My last many years fasting and going to temple gives me solace. I know that the deities are the way we have learnt to identify God, but going to temple is very peaceful. I am also an engineer and logically going to temple should not produce the feelings which I get but instead the kind of sacrifice you are suggesting is more likely to be productive and uplifting. I am just following the herd ( habit) or is there any merit to my observation that this ( fasting and going to temple ) is helpful . Thanks Ashok Goswami PS. Please notice that the house of Karma and Dharma are close to one another but NOT ONE AND THE SAME! There must have been a reason to keep them close and connected but to give them individual domains and zones! Don't you think so? But yes it is difficult to separate what we learn in one domain to then not influence the other! You have just started studying the literature and you are already impatient? :-) I suggest that you write down all questions that arise in a notebook (not electronic! A notebook on paper with ink!). Leave a few blank lines after each question. Write down the full date, place and time when the question arose. Think about those questions often as you progress in your studies. Should some of those questions get answered through your further studies, please note down the date and time and a few points about the answers. Review this notebook every six months or so, depending on how sincerely you are able to devote time to your studies. I have very different views about fasting, but I do not wish to treat that as a 'general' or generic topic. Perhaps some other day...! Your observation that I am already impatient is very true and I will try to follow your advise to write the questions and review subsequently to see if I have the answer. I have started to read the Jyotish Primer you very kindly sent me few weeks ago. Some of the questions I had are now relatively clear to me, some other I hope I will understand in due time. I did not write time and date though. I mentioned about my enginnering background because I have been reminded so many times by my wife that I am too logical etc. Thanks for the advise. An you know what happens next!. Who bothers! really! When I read about this explosion that sounded like a frustrated purring of cat, the story of a known person came to my mind. I know a very close relative, who throws similar bombs (mind you he himself has very good knowledge of astrology, particularly KP). He is spend thrift and acquired huge debts, though his business was extremely doing well at one time(one of most reputed firms in the city). His had ambitions beyond his capacity and tried to live emulating others above his status. The money spend was mostly for this. He used to visit all the astrologers and if they frankly tell him his problems, he not only will not like it but shall scold them. He is happy if they tell him about satru badha etc But will not do any remedies as well. As far he is concerned, all the astrologers are crooks - note that he has to pay only Rs 50 to Rs 100 as dakshina in contrast with what is charged for " services " elsewhere to the tune of Rs 1000/- & above. I think people look for solutions to the problems they are facing ( actual or perceived) when they feel that some thing needs to be done. We humans disproportionately look for solutions to current problems rather that long term dedicated and disciplined solutions. Examples are financial , health and many issues in life. One could say that only desperate people go to doctors or credit councilors. In some way that is true, in my opinion this is more to do with the seeker rather than the professionals.  I was reading an article written by shri Rohniranjan ji, he gave an example that if some one was to look at a clock and when the two needles meet ( 12:00 ) PM, many people go to lunch. The fact that two needles meet do not make people hungry it however indicates that a large majority of people are going to get food. astrology in my opinion is a collection of these observations made over centuries  to indicate possibilities.  I am just a starting student in the science of astrology but I do believe that it is a valid science,probably more difficult and with more variables than most. just like in medicine high blood pressure is not a certainty of heart attack but it increases the probability. similarly position of certain planets is not a certainty of an out come just a probability.  I do not think people seeking astrologers are desperate in a negative sense ( It is the urgency of the problem ). Direction for self-perfection. Human being by his own make up build up wishes and works out a stategy to achieve.Some times he finds his own initiatives are not adequate enough to attain fulfillment of his wishes.At that time might be is not desperate.Also possibly must have felt that what is seemingly easily is going awy from his reach with out any logical means. He locked up his ideas and was also confident enough to achieve.Strangely he encounters different circumustnaces not very congenial to him fulfill his wishes.Also the peers and parental guidance too was lacking for him to consult and take their suggestion. probably desperation comes when the individual lacks confidence and wants to achieve by hook or crook.Might be some strategy of planning would only make him less desperate and provide the element of satisfaction that " he can work out " Finally astrological guidance would become a source of enlightement where he needs to strengthen and lessen his anxiety otherwise desperation. At that time what we try to gauze how intensely the person in dire necessity approaches for astrological advice.we accordingly make our own initiatives and provide solution. At that time we also do not want to assess whether some body was already approached and advice was given but the native was not 'contended' with the suggestions given.But making observation like this://people on this group has never ever replied even after posting my query again and again// only defeats the purpose on either side. In fact while studying the chart v find many things emerge but we limit ourselves to make the person not to loose his heart or be desperate.Strangely some if not all have only questionable intentions and infer "  //I have actually lost belief in my capabilities//. probably v feel that Astrology has different understanding for different people and they r only blind to facts and figures. Other issues relating to services and paying the money etc certainly indicates that their faith in Astrology or the demands they have in mind to redress their problems do not change the complexion of the revered science.This only indicates people intend to make noise for the sake of expressing their own lack of will. we are certainly aware when such topics are continued with out looking into themselves the objectivity of Astrology for whom what has to be adviced gets lost and become purposeless. Heck! Give those five the same birthdata and they will come up with five different ways to peel and eat the banana :-) We each do the best we can in the best possible manner that we are 'enabled' by our life-plan. No need to justify or explain etc. Suno sab_kee karo man_kee! Everyone wears the clothing that fits them.
