New Database of Group Members - Please add your details

Dear All,

A Data base is created to present the detials of all group members. Tree details are requested from every willing group member-

1) Name

2) ID

3) Description

This is supposed help other group members in getting a primary introduction about the other member with whom they are interacting.

Go to "Database>>Our Group Members>>Add Record" and add your details.

 

To view the user details, go to: /database?method=reportRows & tbl=1

 

To Add Your details, go to:

/database?method=addRecord & tbl=1

Dear Sreenadh, I am a beginner in astrology and a silent learner of this group.I have a suggestion for this group.Why can't we get into a chat live on some some fixed ays and discuss astrology the way we are doing over email.This will be very interactive and a lot of time is saved on waitingg for replies.This way the obective of the group to learn more is achieved.Also we could create a database of horoscope of members without their names and this can be referred to as an action databse for studies and effects.It will be even nice if all members list the problems or good about them selves along with the chart.This way we will be able tocorelate the chakra with the actual individual and match with the shastras.This we could call as praticals as we used to have in school. Soory too many thoughts in one go!! My humble request to the group and yourself whether this sounds interesting and implementable if we all

Thanks for the suggestions. Let us review the points you suggested-

* does not provide this facility currently. So we cannot have

it. Even if such a thing was possible, that violates the fundamental

concept of a mailing list or group - since no other members is getting

benefited by the same + no record is kept of the same. In

previously when this feature was available nobody was using it and

that is why removed it. So this suggestion can not be implemented.

* Without names and life details what is the use of Birth data

alone? If such data is available what is the difficulty in identifying

the individual (at least in the case of major members) even if the

Name is not given? How much ethic it is to request members to make

their birth data and life events public? The past experience of many

astrologers on the net shows that when some members become irritated

about each other at times such available Birth data and life events

itself become a tool for psychological attack - there fore i am not in

support of such a suggestion. I don't like the idea violating the

privacy of the group members - or even causing it in some indirect

way. Note that such data is not secure and would be accessible to

many. Note that apart from astrology, the moderators and most of the

member has other professions - and can not wait for some one to come

in chat neither to answer and solve their problems nor to teach them.

Everybody is busy with their own life and group and astrology

discussions is a pastime hobby only.

 

* Further we don't want this group to be a free consultation sight

for the members. That is really an idea this group is much against -

and is against the prime aim of the group. It is a serious study group

and so even third party horoscope will serve our purpose.

* If some one really want to mention his Birth details, even now he

and do the same while providing details for the " Members details "

database, if they wish.

In essence this suggestion also is not acceptable.

All practice is good - but through the messages, as far as group is

concerned, and that too only with willing members. To learn swimming –

it is better to jump in water and learn from some good guru than to

take a postal tuition. If you want to really practice astrology –

instead of trying to do the same from these net discussions, try

learning from some real guru in his presence. To learn or discuss in

group, it is better to use 3rd party horoscopes, about which many

members are familiar with – than own horoscopes, which could turn into

a nasty hail storm of free chart reading requests. Note that the group

home page reads -

* Learn/Teach/Discuss. But please neither request for consultation

nor respond to consultation request within the group. (This is not a

rule but a request).

Thus note that even too much such request-response (consultation!)

sequence is NOT appreciated in this group.

In essence this is a mailing list (discussion group) and it is better

for it to remain so.
