Agreed to your view point. Generally adopt your method when the

reported birth gives a lagna in end or start degrees. I remember a

case in VA forums who pestered me by calling me for analysis, for he was

obsessed with his chart claiming had the SAME yogas like in Bill Gates

!! [straight aim to billionaires club !!}. This person by the name

" Karun Mehta " had technically Gemini Laga at 29deg. 59min as calculated

by JHora software for the given birth data. I went with a preface that

the actual birth will be few minutes before than the reporting

time....for the nurses may not be interested in noting the correct time,

when they have other duties to attend.

In such cases, take the navamsha position of moon D-9 lagna i.e. going

by methods of Sri K.N. Rao i.e. treating varga charts as separate

divisional charts. Now I stopped using it for a long time, now prefer

to use the SriChakra method, which gives better visualization of the

chart.

Concluding.....sometimes, you need to rely on the reporting time, for

getting things right in terms of prediction....they aid a lot, for I did

a research on giving predictions with only lagna & ignoring the

planetary placements for a moment. Just the lagna zodiac. thats all.

Used the planets to moderate the given predictions depending upon

strength of the planets.....got initial hit rate of over 40-50%

Dear Pradeep,

Since I had no way to verify if the Ascendant was right or wrong, I

did not use the Ascendant at all for these predictions. I mentioned

this in my message.

It is my impression that people have much faith in the Ascendants

presented to them. I, however, do not share this faith, unless I have

verified the Ascendant myself.

Otherwise I rather depend on other sources of information like

Chandra-Lagna, Surya-Lagna, sign-positions, conjunctions/aspects,

navamsa-methods etc. etc.
