Can we take take retrograde Shani in 8thH as being in the 7thH? Some hold the view that retro grahas give effect from the previous H as well.

Dear Pradeep ji,

This depends on the school of thought you follow. Several Nadi

books, and Jaganmohana (Vridha vasishta samhita) supports this view - but many

are dead against such a concept and use. At the end, my suggestion would

be to, use it only as a corroborative tool. i.e. It many things point to the

same fact, and if you can put forward this argument too to support and emphasis

the same - then proceed with mentioning the same as well - and at the end STATE

THE RESULT CORRECTLY. Because it is the result that the native and qurrent

looks at to verify and validate your derivation. So it is ok to use the above

as a supportive tool to arrive at tangible conclusions; but I won't suggest

using it independently to arrive at results - because in most of the cases the

same will not tally with actual events/facts.

Dear Pradeep

The retro planets give effect from the previous house onlywhen when we consider

its transit effect not otherwise.

Dear Pradeep ji, Swamy ji is correct - the quote says - "Athichare to Vakre to Purva rasigatam phalam" (If the planet moves with extra speed or slow (in Vakra) then the result of previous sign should be predicted (These are specifically related to TRANCIT). Brihat Daivanja ranjana states that - Vasishta, Garga, Kausika, Parasara etc DOES NOT support this. Actually what is said above, (i.e. considering that it will give the result of previous sign) is the opinion of "Vridha Garga". Hope it is clear.
